Look around for HLAmp. Apparently the creator just did a recompile for the newest update of Steam.

if your using winamp 5 and above, there is an option to enable what are called global hotkeys, meaning keys that winamp will respond to if they are pressed. For example I use ctrl+n for next song <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

The question is, who would want to use WA5 if they have a copy of WA 2.91 still? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Actually Streaming TV from the intarnet > winamp 2. Seriously, Winamp 5 is basically winamp 2 + winamp 3 = winamp 5(see the programmers can count). They actually fixed what was horribly wrong with 3 and made 5 which is awesome.

I have Winamp 5 for Family Guy and The Simpsons but I still wouldn't play my music through it, I forget why, but at the time something really put me off playing music in Winamp 5.

ok.... lol... It plays music fine... I don't see the need to open up another media player when you already have winamp.

HLAmp2 is so leet that if I werent already so leet due to the fact that I emit leetsauce when I play, Id have to get an anti-leet shield to protect me from being overleet and exploderizing the world.

The 'things that were wrong' with Winamp 3 were that it was a freaking skin for Windows Media Player, and nothing more. :b If WA5 has a root in that atrocity, I'm going nowhere near it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

most people hated 3 because of the skins taking up a good junk of ram. I just use winamp 5 with the classic skin, and I get a nice beauitufl media library for only 3 megs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You can turn off the "modern" skins in WA5 so it's all good. Personally I like the new style with the classic color scheme.
    But yes, WA3 was poop.

What's wrong with WA3? im using it right now, and have been for the last few years

    1. Lag
    2. Not as user friendly as 2.91
    3. Can't use 2.91 plugins. Or if it can, they're activated in some complicated and annoying way, rather than running the plugin install .exe file.
  • ChodsChods Join Date: 2003-04-25 Member: 15838Members
hey thanx guys, hehe i forgot that i post this.

im using 2.91 coz i like it better than 5, even though 5 looks nice, im just used to 2.91. ill try it out hlamp2 and hopefully it will work.

the only problem i might run into is that it is used for steam mods and i dont play using steam because both my cd keys have already been taken.

If you're using WA3 and want proof, uninstall Windows Media Player. WA3 will no longer run. It's simply a skin over WMP.

    Winamp 5 isn't, if you don't like modern skin just switch back to classic <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I just use my Remote Wonder II (2) and select winamp and change songs that way.

I love Winamp 5, I love the new skins I hardly use the old skins, ram isn't an problem with my computer.

I use winamp for Music and the TV/radio feature but for videos its Media Player Classic, I also control with Remote Wonder II.

is it true that HLAmp can be detected as a cheat by VAC?

i use winamp 2.91 with a plugin called <a href='http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=2049' target='_blank'>Reproduction Control</a> - it allows hotkeys and fixes some other minor annoyances i had with winamp.

Read the thread, Username. A recompile was done to pull its fingers out of the pie, so to speak. VAC and CD do not see it as a cheat, with HLAmp2.

awww, talesin! what happned to your ol sig pic? i liked that one! i was perdy! can i have it?

i myself just use winamp and i alt+tab to change it, im sure in winap options there are prefrences for hot keys, evenm though i just use ayuma rr music (best for bloody battles) although i would prefer something designed for steam that was just like TA Music change, after about the 4th missle hit, the music would change if it was configured correctly in that game, plus the music wasent that bad.

could you use those programs to bind certain music and to stop and change track?

The main reason i use WA3 over WA5 is that the MMD3 skin on my colour sheme looks crap on WA5, and it's harder to read the song titles for some reason.

    Little NS-connection = <span style='color:white'>***Moved.***</span>

By the way, I'm going to take my iTunes over any WinAmp any day. For once, there's an intelligent integrated tool (I can finally get all my (original) CDs on HD without of getting four additional programs).
