His inebriation was very much apparent to those around him by both his slurred words and the volume with which he thrust them upon the crowd that had gathered around him in the Blunt Axe Inn.

<i>        "Centuries ago, the One, the Almighty made Halixion and all the stars in the sky on a whim of his will. Using the power of heaven, he created all the species and set forth the rules of this world. Then he created other gods in his image: Alieya, Rogl, Shabal, and Mael. These gods, in turn, created their own, each new generation growing weaker and weaker.

"Eventually, these gods could not survive in heaven, and thus were cast down to our world, where they rein over us. Our belief in them gives them power, which we hope in return protects us." </i>

As he finished, Tagg raised his mug to the sky and gave a quick nod, falling backwards and smashing the frail table to the floor. In the shadows of the back of the tavern, a dark man wearing a gray cloak chuckled lightly under his hood, "If hadn't been following him for 20 years, I'd think I had the wrong guy."

Micheal Ceff, a sergeant of the guard turned quickly to see who had spoken of his friend but saw no one. Turning back slowly to the action up front, he dismissed the matter to his ale. He never could hold his alcohol well.

A random drunk up front tosses his empty mug at Tagg, waking him from his wooden bed, "Tell us more of these gods!"

"You know I would, but," Tagg held his finger up with intent as though he were trying to remember something important, "the old lady would kill me if I didn't go home this instant."

"You don't have an old lady, Tagg." A less drunk but still obviously out of it man chimed in.

"By Blajap, you're right! No matter, I still must be getting off," Tagg struggled to his feet and waddled towards the door.

"He didn't pay again," the mysterious voice from behind Ceff again. He turned and starred at the undecorated and dry wooden walls for a long second trying to comprehend. Finally he understood but it was too late.

Tagg had already been wrestled to the ground by two other guardsmen, and he rolled to his side after they finished putting the irons on his wrists, "Come on guys, I've got the money in my pocket… Let me just…"

"I'm sure you do, Arsen, but this is the third time you've forgotten to pay. If I pull what strings I have left for you this time, I'll loose my job. And I DO have an old lady," Ceff said as he approached.

Ceff sighed, "Take him away." <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
