Brightness

got none :/
Due to my monitor being a pos and a dodgy video cable running from it, my screen is dark even when maxing the controls on teh monitor. Ive been fine in all hl mods just by upping my brightness in the nvidia display properties but ns seems to lock the gamma/brightness so you cant increase it :/

I know the game is meant to be played at a certain level of brightness and ppl whod put it up to a higher amount than necessary are lame but i cant see shit, navigating maps is a chore, rather than enjoyable.

Any help or fixes would be appreciated =]

You can increase the brightness even more in half life, at the first screen got to configuration - video options - gamma.

Well, sounds like the fix is in a new monitor. That really sucks.

If its any consultation to you, a lot of newer games use the same gamma ramp that NS does. Quake3, every quake3 engine game, UT2003, etc. Gamma ramping is pretty popular now, so that may mean you'll have a gamma problem in every new game from now on heh.

NS doesn't lock any gamma controls. Do you see an error message when you start or join a game? If the gamma change fails, you should see an error appear in the middle of your screen for a short time.

Might you try to change the brightness via your video card controls...?? Right Click the desktop , go to Properties, then to the tab that says Settings, and then on the bottom right "Advanced". Then over to the tab that says "Color Correction" .... thats the best way if you have a video card... i know all GeForce cards and im pretty sure 3dfx Voodoo cards have that also...
