Go to filter and in the map section type Ns_siege and join any maps that has those maps, they don't really care who comms. The lunixmonster is a really good server to learn comming, but I wouldn't do anything llama-like

Lunixmonster ~ 69.93.5.186:27015

I'm not attempting to take the place of a mod here, but from experience generally threads which talk about good servers leads to discussions or arguements of bad servers which then leads to a flame war, and topics getting locked.

That being said, I definitely recall a thread from a few weeks ago which listed quite a few servers (which was locked). Try a global search for "comm" and "Server" .

My suggestion on this is; every server pretty much will allow new comm's, back in "the day" there were a couple of servers like The Hampton's (now closed) which quite clearly denoted themselves as "experienced players only" but not so much now. Simply go marines and ask if you can comm (explain you are new), if that particular team isn't up for an adventure to help a new comm, try a second game, if still no support, try another server. Sometimes servers have "regulars" who want to play the game a certain way but only while they are all on, so don't discount the server totally if you can't comm for a while.

Hope that helps...

In addition to that: the reason why good/bad server threads are off limits.

Your best bet is to search for "good server", "friendly server" and "newb/n00b friendly server" threads in the New Player Forum or in General Discussion. Next to that you can have a look at people's sigs in the forums, they often contain server ip's and some notable aspects of those servers.

A general advice would be to tell people you are new to comming, that you would like to have a go at it and that you're open to suggestions from your team. This very often generates (it should anway) very good responses as opposed to someone hopping into the chair and just doing his own thing while trying to find out how to get upgrades .

Don't let anyone or anything discourage you from the game or from comming, we all had to learn the game at some point, although some people seem to forget that aspect of the game and act like plain twits towards new players.

Lunixmonster is occasionally a good server to learn to comm on (that's where I learned), because every once in a while, NO ONE will get in the chair. So you can basically mess up as badly as you want to (I lost a game with ~450 res in the bank, because I forgot to spend it on stuff ), and if there's no one else who wants to get in, it doesn't really matter too much.

Oh, and they don't mind if you completely screw up either =P
You will have to know how the game works and the basic marine strategy if you want to hop in the chair though...
Someone who knows the game yet has never commed before = fine.
NSPlayer in the comm chair = not fine. =)

it's always good sportsmanship to inform your rines that you are new, and if they are cool with it. usually a game where they are using the super secret 'no comm strat' is a good time to jump in the cc.

as for servers, i seem to recall there being a server called Commanders Sandbox? or the like? you commed against WhichBots.

Cracker Jack Mack (former server-runner and member of Covert Oral) has created a new server for his LAN party advertisment, EvilSquid.NET.

The server can be found @ 67.19.16.196.

Back when he ran the CO server, there were some pretty good people to help out new players. We are working to create that fanbase as we had before. So drop on by and have some fun.

Well it depends on what you class as a good server different people like different servers, for example i dont like custom maps that much and i dont like big servers, but my favs are prob TheHaven, Yoclan (classic) =SR= server and our Skulkrush vets server.

Just tested lunix monster on a Co map i asked if i could comm the next map they were all ok with it

Game starts i say if i **** up say so, (personnally i find the rines **** up more than me) they were attacking the hive ruining surprise even when i dropped a PG but yeah was fun.

EDIT: Anyone mind saying the OFFICIAL NS server (this sites server) where many of the people here go?
• DestroyerDestroyer Join Date: 2003-12-21 Member: 24611Members
there is no official ns server but i do recommend the guns4back2school servers if you wish to learn, we have some really good regular comms on there, and even though you may not get a go you will see why on our server rines win 85% of the time.

(comment on that game)
We waited outside the hive for a bit and asked what to do..no response so we shot it.

Then again, that is a 28 player server wherein aliens are completely starved for res and it takes 6 or 7 mins for fades to appear and hive to go up

No.

I dropped both: a PG a TF and a Obs and what did you do?

1st:look at stuff 5 minutes
2d:Run into hive and skulks
3d:Shoot at hive be slaughtered and waste 100 res on weaps and buildings
• IsamilIsamil Join Date: 2003-11-25 Member: 23552Members, Constellation
Well then, it seems we didn't notice that you had dropped a PG(Or you dropped it to late).
A comm needs to tell you his plans, if you just drop waypoints and buildings there will be problems.
