The resource bug

<div class="IPBDescription">How/what can a server admin do to fix it</div>I'm currently running 3x20 player servers down here in .au, all of which are being affected by what I believe is what people are calling the resource bug.

I'm seeing over 80 turrets being placed, midway in a game in the aliens hives.

Everyone's running around in heavy armour and heavy machine guns or spamming grenades.

I just got outa a game, where the the marine's were pulling resources out of their #####, we owned every resource point but one right from the word go and they were able to put 40 turrets down in our hives.

If it involves using a beta server .so or .dll ( I have windows and linux servers running ) hook me up, I'm more then willing to test any beta code that you throw at me.

    Forgot to mention, I'm using stock server.cfg's as per supplied.

    The only things different are the hostname and added rcon_password.

    Play with them a little, see what comes out. A beta tester recommended to me setting the resource handicap to zero as it might be bugged, but I haven't had the chance to try it yet.

    Try this <a href='http://halflife-central.com/downloads/skill.zip' target='_blank'>skill.cfg</a> I'm using.

    Basically what I've done:

    basic alien buildings cheaper
    alien evolving cheaper
    alien turrets more health

    marine turrets more expensive and slightly less health
    marine turret factory cheaper
    marine weapons cheaper
    basic marine buildings cheaper

    Try it before you flame me. It does give the aliens an easier time.

    Just don't forget to set these back to default once the patch is released, otherwise the entire balance will be thrown out of whack again.

    Personally, I hope that all the economics and resource settings are locked down so that no one can change them, once the game is working as it was intended. Any monkeying with these is guaranteed to mess up the balance in NS's very delicate and complex system.

    ns_playerresourcescalar should probably be set to 2/maxplayers... see my post

    Something was definitely done right with that skill.cfg that was kindly posted by EvilGrin. I saw games going one or the other way with even teams. Aliens were having a much better chance, and marines were doing well provided they stuck together.

    I want to personally thank EvilGrin for posting that skill.cfg because last night I had some really great and memorable games of Natural Selection

    well i'm sticking with the defaults as aliens usually win when i'm there to take charge of them. marines need to do team work too though.

    yeah, I suspected changing aspects was possible, since a marine took out my ono last time with 2 hits with a hmg, he literally fired 2 shots and killed me wiht full health. they should really figure out a good combo and lock all the stats down or least warn people of non standard servers.
