Need Networking/routing Help
Right now I have 2 computers with Win XP and one OS 8.6 Mac computer hooked up to a D-Link DI-604. I've been able to get all of them working great, however, when I tried to hook up another computer, this time a laptop running Win ME I can't get the thing to work. Win XP is extraordinarily easy to hookup and the Mac was easy, but I'm not familiar with the networking for ME.
Anybody know how to make the laptop work ?

Wipe it as quick as you can and slap on 98SE or XP, if possible. If not, consider tossing Linux on.
Even linux is a better OS for a home computer then ME.
However, if you insist on networking it...
Look around for infor on how to network windows 9x machines as I believe they should help out.
My brother wanted his computer on the network, but outright refused to change from winME. After maybe two weeks of poking around with the settings, protocols, and drivers, I finally got it talking. I honestly don't even know what I did to get it working, but it now works. So just so you know, it is possible, but is a very frustrating experience.
However, if changing your OS, my vote is for win2000 (if staying with MS, that is). I never did like XP's hold-your-hands-at-all-times interface.
Again. I'd recommend downloading the newest Fedora Core distribution from redhat if you're a Linux newbie, and installing from that. AVOID MANDRAKE. Both are decent for learners, but Mandrake is the LEAST stable Linux distro, with all the kernel patch crap they've done.
WinXP > Win2k > Win98SE > Win95 > Win3.1 > DOS > WinME
Edit: if you're up for a challenge, Gentoo is a nice Linux distro. Completely customizable. You can install as little of it or as much as you want. But for a newbie, Talesin's right. Fedora is nice, easy and comes with a GUI
so sue me, I grew up on it
