Three Concepts

<div class="IPBDescription">latest try</div> Here are some silhouettes of a few new guns I've been trying to get right, before fleshing them out.

<img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/images/cmc1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

This is supposed to be sort of a light carbine. Based a bit off that XM8.

<img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive/asr5.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

This has gone through a few iterations. First it was an LMG, now it's starting to look more like a shotgun. A drum magazine is supposed to fit into the back.

<img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive/mg.jpeg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

A machine gun. I know the tripod support looks off, pay no attention to that <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I don't know so much about the actual design and functioning of guns, so if anyone has any helpful suggestions, I'd appreciate the advice.

    The outlines look good, but you can't model off outlines as you have no idea of the volume of the model. You should definitely develop these concepts though.

    don't diss silhouettes. silhouette for the win. It's all you need anyway

    What direction should I take when "filling them in?"

    i think they are good but you should try filling it in makes it alot easier to model

    Here's the first gun, revised.

    I dunno, though. I have the feeling it's not "different" enough.

    Of course it does, that's what he based it off of. I think it looks better though... cute-ish

    no he didn't

    I think filling silohuettes in expands modelling potential.

    Well... what should I do, then?

    Concepts like that revision you did of the first one are a million times easier to model off and therefore are ten million times more likely to be modelled.

    the front of the barrel of the first one along with the trigger guard on the first one are from the StG44 in DoD

    I thought the little triangle sight thing looked cool at first, but decided against it later. Seemed redundant, what with the scope thing and all.

    Here are two more. This is meant to be an HMG sorta thing.

    This is sort of the progression that I went through.

    <img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive2/Russian_HMG1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive2/Russian_HMG2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive2/Russian_HMG3-2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive2/Russian_HMG3.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://xasm.net/~beigegoo/archive2/Russian_HMG4.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    And, an assault rifle carbine-ated version, with attached GL.
