Are offense tower really worth it?

<div class="IPBDescription">Yes another complaint</div>I've been playing this game since it came out till now. Thats about 12 hours of gaming.

Now here's the question are offense towers really worth it to defend bases?

When I play the aliens and become a gorge and build offense towers I notice that they never seem to kill any marines. Worst of all one time I built 3 offense tower to kill this enemy marine node and when I was watching it shoot at it some of the shots acutally went way off.

THe only kills I've seen with an ofeense is when a marine is out of ammo and acutally charges in with his knife.

It seems marines can dodge 12 offense towers by just sidestrafing.

Even if you place offense towers around corners what stops the marines from just strafing? Or the shots acutally miss him and he gets to blast them away?

    try putting webs in a clever way so that he gets hit by the web and can'tmove fast enough to dodge the shots. But hope they don't have a welder(which they always do) or that he is alone because once the guy behind him catches up your turrents are dead <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

    Offensive towers are halfway decent at taking out turrets.  Place a defense tower around a corner, then make an offensive tower in the hall/room with the turrets.  As long as you can build faster than the tower gets hurt, you're golden.  After it's done, make another one and heal the first one as needed.  If there are lots of turrets, you may need 2 or 3 def towers.  As an added bonus, not only did you clear some turrets, you know have a protected forward healing location.

    For the most part, offensive towers stink.  They're 1/10th as good as a turret.

    I think they could be a bit more effective or the rate of fire and accuracy could be better. But I dunno... we´ve just started playing.     also make the webs low to the ground and or stick them to the ground, making it hard to see and to late for any marines, ive seen/done this before its real helpful because if a marine with a welder comes he can melt the webs, mostly because there high up and an easy target to see, but when you stick them to the walls and the ground then they will just run in and find there weapons gun  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    It'll be good if Offensive Towers shot exactly the same thing, with exactly the same ROF but instead the bullets were slightly homing with the ability to go around corners to get em pesky marines who duck around after emptying their load.. note : only 'slightly'.

    It'll make them a bit more effective and make up for their lack of firepower and ROF while providing a bit more cover and something different to just turrets in another skin.

    Offense chambers can be extremely effective if used right.  heres the formula:  

    Webs + Defense Chambers + Offense Chambers = extremely effective Offense chambers.

    P.S. offense chamber placement can make a difference too.

    Alien turrets are ok, but its just unfair that marine turrets are lots of better. It should be like marine turrets have very strong attack(like they do now) but very very low health(like they don`t have now) and alien turrets would be completely the opposite
