Counter-strike Maps

<div class="IPBDescription">Quick Question</div> I was playing today and I was on the level co_de_dust2...

CS Map dust2 made into an NS Combat map.

What I was wondering is that are there any combat maps from NS made into a counter strike map?

I have the feeling somthing like co_faceoff would make a good bomb or hostage rescue map.

IF they already have some of these out, I have not been able to locate them.

if you know where I can get them or when they'll be made or any good information on the subject, then thanks.

If you are looking for CS maps, this is the wrong place. This is for NS maps. And no, to my knowledge, no NS maps have been turned to CS - thankfully. NS maps are copyrighted to their original authors and if you were to convert them to CS you might be up for a lawsuit.

i don't think it would actually go as far as court, but yes, you are technically right.

Yes, it probably wouldn't, but it still is copyright infringement unless you have the author's permission to edit and redistribute their map.

i have done it once, and all i did was decompile it ( this was way way back when i first started mapping ) and then i fixed the brushes, and then i put in my own entities that fit into ns.

I think he means if anyone's converted them TO CS. What you said sounded like a CS-> NS conversion. As for converting to CS, if it wasn't already illegal (and if CS didn't suck so much), it wouldn't really work anyways. Vents cant really be used in CS maps, since there's no skulks, JPs or lerks. A lot of the NS features that make the map good wouldn't be usable in CS...

you could always widen them, or add some crates.

I dunno I just thought it sounded like a good idea for NS - > CS

Converting ns maps to cs would be a 30 second job. Decompile, open, change the point entities, DO NOT TOUCH ANY BRUSHES OR BRUSH ENTITIES and do an onlyents compile. Done.

Except for the small part where you completely retexture the map because textures from the NS.wad and NS2.wad are for use in NS mapping only.

The thing is, NS maps aren't supposed to be used in anything other than NS, so why bother retexturing?
