Change Resolution From Command Line?

<div class="IPBDescription">half-life command in general...</div> This may sound really stupid, but I just had to downgrade to a really crappy old monitor that only supports a maximum resolution of 800x600. All my HL based games are set to play in >1024x762 resolution, and when I open them to try to set the resolution down, my screen gets all fubar (because the monitor can't display it...).

I was wondering how to change the resolution from outside the game itself. it's not in the config.cfg. but IIRC there's some command line option (for the shortcut) along the lines of -800 or something... but I don't remember.

So. what is the command line option...?

thanks.
