Playing alone to get a feel for the game

<div class="IPBDescription">Is this at all possible</div>I'd like to play online but I live in South Africa (Yup ... way down there) and The best server I can join has a ping of 1000+ and a packet loss of 45%.

Needless to say that I can't even connect to these servers without a timeout.

I'm trying to get some of the local servers to convert to NS but the admins are counterstrike FANATICS. So that might take a while

Thus, for all the above stated reasons I'd like to know if I can somhow start a game and place stuctures, ammo, morph between aliens etc with only me in the game?

Please help.

    Start a LAN game and turn on Cheats.

    sv_cheats 1

    then you can build etc.
    but just so you know. all the buulding goes way faster when your in cheat mode. So building will be much slower when you play online later on.

    its possible that it will be fixed in the upcoming patch, as most of you probably already know there is a bug making NS servers slower than syrup, so hooold oooon!
