This is really annoying- ns won't recognize my mic

<div class="IPBDescription">I have a mic. it works. why god why?</div>I have a new labtec headset with a microphone attached to it. The mic works. The soundcard works. The headphones work. So why, even when the "use voicecom in this mod" box is checked, do I not get the little speaker icon next to my name that says i have voicecom?! This is starting to #### me off.

- The mic itself works. I can hear myself breathing and talking through the phones, as per usual.

- The soundcard works. All the mic recording diagnostics check out ok.

- Everything is plugged in right.

- I have the "use voicecom in this mod" box checked in the options screen.

IS THERE ANYTHING IM MISSING?!

    Well, ehhh.. for me (because I'm silly i guess) I wasn't pushing a button.  Yes, you hold a button down while talking.  I never paid any attention to the speaker icons though really.  

    Otherwise, I couldn't tell ya.

    I have my voice chat key bound to ALT. That's not the problem. The problem is that the game, for some totally insane reason, thinks I don't have voicechat enabled. If you have it enabled, you have a little speaker icon next to your name in the player list. When you talk, Little sound waves animate next to it.

    I don't have a speaker icon at all.

    Last i checked (which admittedly was 1 version of HL ago) you are never able to see *your own* speaker icon. Are you sure that people ingame cannot hear you or did you just base your 'my mic doesn't work' on the fact that you didn't get the mic thingy like the other players?

    Yeah, but when I press ALT, shouldn't a little yellow icon come up in the corner indicating that my mic is transmitting?

    How odd. My mic just started working. Little yellow icon in the corner, people can hear me. I didn't do anything.
