Mp_timelimit not working?

My server will play the same map forever until one team wins. Is this the way it was setup? So that one team HAS to win before the map changes? Or is the mp_timelimit just not working? Mine is at the default with 60, but ive played and the map never changed for hours until one team finally won.

Its designed like this.  mp_timelimit does work, but its coded so that it will NEVER change during  game; always waits until the round has ended.

what sense would it make to have a game end mid-game?

I think this is because it won't stop a game in progress.  Lemme find the entry... yes, here it is:

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td><b>Quote</b> </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"><!--QuoteEBegin-->mp_timelimit - Number of minutes to play on each map.  After this expires, the map will change to the next level in mapcycle.txt.  <b>IMPORTANT: the map will never switch in the middle of the game, it will always allow you to finish your current game first.</b>  Default is 60 minutes (2-3 games).<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Can we over-ride this? Ive had 2 6 hour games with lockdowns on both sides <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

Yeah, that's the same reason i was asking, i've had games go on for hours and hours, eventually, people were just letting the other team win cause they were tired of the map.

just reduce the value on mp timelimit

I put mine down to 40 minutes. This way, once a round is finished, the map will switch because all of the time has elapsed. [I found that rounds usually last more than 40 minutes, but less than 60 in many cases]

With the limit at 60, people will finish a game before 60 minutes is up, then they will start a new game. and because they just started a new game, the map will continue.

So, you should be ale to set the timelimit really low, and not have to worry. I don't know why they defaulted it to 60.

    Cheers!

"Default is 60 minutes (2-3 games)."

ok I dont know about you guys, but i'm constantly in games that last hours because both teams are playing so well. (read: the aliens keep running from the humans destructive force. and yes i play aliens)

A few things. If one game lasts 6 hours, setting mp_timelimit lower does nothing. Just makes your number different. Second, I agree that times on games for me are huge. But I can take the sleeplessness <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> I think it could be caused by small teams, or the equality *cough* of them.
