<div class="IPBDescription">why not the marines?</div> okay, as we all know, the lerk flies based on where you are looking right? no more getting caught in the cieling and easier control, GREAT

but what about the marines? they still get caught in cielings and stuck on obstructions...why not make the marine jp flight model work like the lerk model? fly based on where you look? hey if you like this idea, bump it here, im going to post it in the ideas and suggestions forum too

    Put two and two together. Why does BOBDOLOL think that it would be a nerf to make jetpack flight like lerk flight? Hmmmm... what is the problem with marines flying like lerks? Perhaps it is that <b>they cannot aim without changing direction</b>, which is a huge problem considering that this element (being able to aim from mid-air) is exactly what makes jetpacks useful. Put on your thinking cap.

    yeah i was thinking that too...about the aiming...but then i was thinking a solution which is this:

    whenever a marine holds "walk" in the air, they fly based on where they look, if they dont hold "walk" then they fly normally

    You could hover to shoot by not pressing any direction buttons and just tapping jump every now and then. Kinda how the JP units in C&C: Red Alert worked iirc, they manouvered into position and then shot.

    Lerks should have strafe and backwards keys re-enabled for flight, its just so useless being only able to fly where you look! Nothing in real life has no neck movment, you can ALWAYS look somewhere and move in another. Means lerks easily lose track of marines at close quaters, can't bite without flying straight at the marine and other things.

    I prefered the old flight system and weapons from 1.04 lerk. Had more armour then too..

    I think JP's are just fine as they are. It actually takes a little skill to fly around correctly with a JP, unlike lerk's flight. And besides, if your idea was made a reality, it would suck because wouldn't a marine with a JP just fly straight to the ground when shooting at an alien on the ground since you're looking in that direction and trying to fly past him?

    If you don't like it, practice with it more.

    I think it's a good idea. Have the crouch key keep the same direction and speed, allow the marine to turn and shoot at things.

    I can't think of a way for it to be implemented without looking really stupid. I fail to see the necessity anyway; it's not worth the amount of work required. As has been said it will only work if it's optional, and then you have other problems to deal with. How will you balance fuel cost between the gliding Lerk-style flight and the short burst JP flight?

    if you press forward, then a new flight model would be useful. Otherwise it makes no sense cause you wouldnt be able to strafe and dodge.

    maybe change the direction that a jetpack go when you press the jump button,something like 60 degrees of flight would make it very more useful than already is

    Hum am i the only one who thinks JP are powerful enuf as they are? Maken it even harder for poor skulkys and spaz fades to hit the dam things while they are buzzing around your hive shotgunning it to death seems like a bad idea.
