<div class="IPBDescription">What do you listen to?</div> I've got a couple of bootlegged Nickel Creek concerts on my comp. I've been listening to them straight through, and I've never been more productive.
What particular bands/songs/albums do you listen to while mapping?

However, sometimes i do throw a cd or two in. Most recently it's been the self titled album by Lars Fredricksen And The Bast*rds, "Live On St Patrick's Day" by the Dropkick Murphys and The Rocky Horror Punk Rock Show (Covers of all the Rocky Horror Picture Show songs <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->) by various artists.

Seriously though, next time just say you've got some <insert band here> cd's.
All that said, I usually just go with the local alt-rock radio station. Miss the nine o clock metallica that the metal station used to do here. Either that or the spongebob theme song, listen to it once and it will stay with you your entire life. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hey, I've bought all of Nickel Creek's albums, all of the albums of the solo work by all of their members. I've bought tickets to two of their concerts and made several of my friends fans to the point that they are also buying CDs and going to concerts. I think I'm entitled to a few innocent bootlegs. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> Studies show that you'll map better if you listen to the radio or a massive list of songs because your brain associates music with certain styles of mapping and if you hear the same song, your less likely to come up with new ideas and increase productivity. Its true you know.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
If that is the case, it seems like it would be better to listen to a lot of a certain type of music all at once and just switch it off every time you map so that you can maintain a consistent style but still get new ideas.
Damn it, I've been looking for that comp for so long now. I was gonna get it for my friend but I couldn't find it so I get her Suffer by Bad Religion instead. Where'd you get it?
or Fantomas... or anything with Mike Patton in it, for that matter... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
But when I map its usually goth.
Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children and more.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Hmm. Interesting artist names you have there Esuna. Very <i>creative</i>.
I find the radio is the best way forward due to the sheer variety, although most of the time the song that's on is awful.
EDIT: You listen to <i>Mortiis</i> ? Have you no shame?
I also like to listen to different movie soundtracks and classic music.
Stop downloading the internet!!!

Sinner! You have but one Megumi Hayashibara song!
All that music and not a single Led Zeppelin song.
That's awful.
It has everything to do with mapping in my opinion, as listening to music helps for all kidns of other things such as remember exam techniques/info. , working and (probably the most obvious) remembering a dance routine.
I listen mainly to rock, so I might stick a bit of Fuel or Bad Religion on and mix with some punk rock like Blink 182 or the Offspring. In particular when I listen to Blink 182 it reminds me of when I made ns_glory, and helps me think of the brushwork and dimensions, texture names and patterns. I could probably rebuild areas from scratch without looking at a previous version.
The point i'm making is that music sub-concsiously unlocks the awesome power of the brain, and essentially the awesome mapping that people bring out. It helps remember used techniques, and create new techniques for quality levels. Oh don't forget the boredom factor. I'm sure the Bast re-make team needed something to push them through the rough patches when keeping to a tight schedule.
[EDIT]
After reading this post more thoroughly I've decided to write an article with similar nature. Anyone interested in helping the development of the article (which I will be offering to a popular PC Magazine, should they want it is up to them, I know they need articles at the moment) please Private Message me via these forums if you would like to read and send feedback within the next week. Thanks

That's nothing, esuna. I have roughly 3 TERABYTES of mp3s on my network, totalling into the months of music... straight... probably, I don't know as I haven't actually loaded them ALL into winamp.
As for music, I tend to listen to newer rock. Audioslave, Collective Soul, Metallica, Crossfade, Linkin Park... I have some techno in there too, and the occassional Coolio song. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> I have a default playlist that I usually listen to, but if I want to listen to anything else, I just have a look around on my network.
