Help with hl in-game server scanner

I am having problems with the HL in-game server scanner.
I go to multiplayer > internet games > And then a message pops up "Logging onto VALVe" And then i cannot proceed to scan only for a certain mod. Every time i click update, i get the entire HL engine's game server listing, which is round 26,000 servers. Needless to say, this is very annoying. Any/all help would be appreciated; my guess was a file was corrupted somewhere, but i am lost....?

    I take it you havnt been using HL for very long now  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> !  To see only those servers running natural selection games click on filter and select ns from the "are running game" drop-down box.     I am also having this problem.  Ever since I installed NS I have not been able to d/l a filtered server list.  It forces me to d/l all 26,000 servers which takes over 10 minutes.

    Same problem. I actually re-installed the whole sha-bang, and it worked once, but i'm having the same problem now too.

    It's with all mods though.. not just NS, but I think it was something in the install.

    Please, don't make me use gamespy....

    Hmm, I sometimes get this problem with all mods.  If I go into the filter section and change/re-apply something and click ok it usually works.

    If you can't get it to work, a temporary fix, i jsut found out, is to delete your favservers.dat in your half-life directory.

    I had the filter problem too, but it went away after I restarted.  It's been fine ever since...... now if only i could play the damn game with a ping lower then 1500.
