<div class="IPBDescription">OMG H4>< W0r|< !!!1</div> In the time I have played NS (since 1.03 or so) I have only seen a count of possibley 3 proven hackers. Two with aimbots and one with a speedhack. I know we can all agree that cheating is loathed by any player that doesn't want to cheat. We also have people like esuna that post demos of hacks so people can know what they look like and how to spot them well.
The problem is that some people take this entire cheating exploring too far. I don't remember who the incompetent person was that posted about "OMG SPEED HAX WURK!" but that right there is an invitation to any and all script kiddes, want to be cheaters or people that are interested in using speed hacks. Don't go post around such things saying you were trying them out on servers. That is just lame. If you want to try out a hack and see how it works, create a LAN server with a few bots and try it there, not online. And don't post about how they work and how easy they are to use.
Why am I posting this? The past couple of days I have seen rather suspicious activity from more regular pub players than I though possible. EG: Hiding in a spot for a couple of minutes waiting for an ambush and I'm pretty well concealled and I haven't moved at all. Then a marine comes by and looks directly at me and shoots instantly, killing me before I could even realize that something walked in front of me much less that I was being shot at. Then today a few moments ago on a server I was playing. We were on Hera and I was comming and then all of a sudden I see a couple of marines die to this one skulk and they mention speed hacking. I then move over to one that is requesting a medpac and see him die instantly from a skulk biting around 300 times a minute. I recycle everything, everyone else but me suicides and I mine up the entire marine spawn area and get a shotgun to try and kill teh guy for the hell of it while I wait for the admin on to record the neccessary demo and then ban the guy. Well the admin changes the map to a CO map for this and the guy is eventually banned. This would make the fifth cheater I've seen in NS with another guy using an aimbot on a pub with no admins. I just simpley left, but the fact of the matter is that I had to leave. I couldn't stay and play a game because of one person ruinging my time. Yes, if they searched they cna find hacks rather easily, but if you go around posting that you downloaded a certain one by using a certain means to find it, then those little lamers out there will go out and download it and use it. Be a responsible player and don't go broadcasting around about cheats. Especially if you are "testing" them out because people will know you are doing it and will probably ban you on sight.
As for countermeasures to cheating, there is C-D and VAC and along with an admin banning the hacker, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to contact vavle with the demo of the cheater and their STEAM ID?

NS doesn't have VAC support to the best of my knowledge...
Sending a 'hack' demo to Valve will have to show some incredible evidence of cheats, not to mention several seperate pieces of footage (ie from different servers / games / times) before I imagine they'd actually put a global ban on their steamID - simply because of the sheer volume of demo's they'd be sent.
The strangest thing, which to me was almost an admission of guilt, an admin server appeared, and he instantly left, the admin left and he came back, another admin arrived, and he left within seconds. He was killing everyone and everything, but didn't want the admins to see?
Another example, Same server, different day, for about three games straight, one guy was a one-man-massacure. Aliens or marine he was always top. He also avoided all contact with the two admins playing.
But, he slipped up and killed one. And after every single kill, every player was saying "cheat". That admin spectated the next game.
Lo and behold, he couldn't play for toffee. And was getting owned constantly.
Just a couple of stories I liked to share. But I have the theory that if you were to play four games in a day, one of them will have a blatent cheater.
Also, I don't believe that scripting is cheating, I think they make it "too easy"
