Looking For A Sound Card

For under $100
Any suggestions? I've been looking at the Audigy 2 ZS (non gamer) for quite awhile yet, but I'm not sure whether or not I want to shell out $90 for a sound card when all I'll be using is a headset. (a good one at that). The main reasons I'm not sure whether I'll buy the card are:

- I'm going to be getting around $100 next week, so the price of the sound card will be taking a large chunk out of that

- I'd really enjoy getting a couple a games along with my card (games that I like, not Tomb Raider in the ZS or Halo in the gamer edition) and I won't be able to get more than one with the sound card I'm looking at. Linky

- As mentioned above, I'm only using a headset, so would it be worth getting the Audigy 2 of I'm not using one of its biggest features? (5.1 surround sound)

So, should I get a slightly lower quality card (Audigy 1?) and save a few bucks, or will the Audigy 2 provide much better sound, even on a headset?

you dont even need an audigy really, though they are nice, ( i have one), i know someone who has a turtle beach-santa cruz sound card and it works just as well and i have heard good things of the one built by hercules i believe it is, sound cards really dont make much of a difference from each other as do video cards

Well i have an Audigy1 and it's nothing but trouble. I'm still having troubles with the mic on/off bug, though some people say they can hear me fine while others say i'm breaking up. Anyways just wanted to say stay away from Audigy1.

You might as well just buy a good mobo. Onboard sound is pretty impressive anymore. Only an audiophile would be able to tell the difference between an audigy or something and an on-board, and even then you'd have to have quite expensive speakers as well.

Speaking of which, better speakers is a far better investment than a new sound card.
