The art is the only reason I have heard form a dev agaist the port... So that means that as soon as Hammer5 (or what ever they decide to call it) comes out Im learning how to map...
Say that to yourself 10x.
Hl2 is out...hl2 is out.. think of how rediculous that sounds <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yes Im a hater.
Anyway the program is out to convert models etc.
Its somewhere in the subforum of the customization forum.
Where is this video? I'm sry but I'm lazy, and you are convenient
sad..true...
mappers will also play a role...then again...
everyone will ^_^
I think I remember hearing that level geometry will be easy to port over.
That coupled with the fact that Hammer is still the editor...
BTW, I'm throwin in my wish as well for some form of NS on the Source tech. Just the thought of a Fade rendered so beautifully. . . .::drools::
Hey, a funny one <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Won't HL 2 change mapping limitations anyway, and it hence by extremely unattractive to make direct ports (unless for some odd reason, its absolutely no work) but instead create new maps ?
And hopefully, Hammer5 will be a bit less obnoxious than current editors (especially when it comes to compile behaviour).
It simply rox! CS is sweet like hell! Damn... can't w8!
There should be a NS2.

Argh, for the umpteenth time, it's not CS2. They explicity stated in the video that it was just a port of CS and not a sequel.
My concern doesn't lie in the gameplay or gfx and other niceties but more to the ability of the mass consumer being able to obtain the hardware to run HL 2 - the old HL 1 engine will run on almost any hardware, Source will run on medium to hi end machines.
On a side note I wonder how much programmers think about MP and the effects of lower gfx detail has - example BF:Vietnam - if you play at max eye candy you will see lush terrain, long grass to craw through and dense bushes to hide in....but a player using a low gfx detail settings will not see much of the grass or bushes. I hear FarCry MP has much of the same problem - players setting gfx settings to low to see other players easier, built in 'bush-hack' if you will.

Maybe Flayra would seriously consider it if we asked pretty pretty please? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
With the biggest cherry on top the world can find.
NS on the HL engine is a huge hardware hog. It was almost unplayable on my 800 Duron, which ran CS and even DoD rather well - and it still is pretty crappy at times with my GF4 MX and a 2000+ Thoroughbred.
So most people playing NS will be well in range for the HL2 specs. And HL2 has been announced how long now? I doubt it'll be the most wasteful thing on system ressources to ever exist, so it should run fine on mediocre, lowpriced machines which most frequent gamers have.
The one and the biggest. Popularity.
Now think of how many people use Steam? Yes, thats a lot of people..
And how many of those people will buy HL2? Quite alot.
And thats not the end of this, how many people who did not own hl will buy hl2? Quite many again.
So the playerbase will just grow and grow.
But those newcomers wont propably be so interested in the old tech stuff (Well I imagine that they will get access to HL when they buy HL2). So they want play the mods made for source. (Quite meny other mods are being made/ported for Source as we speak) And the old people will follow nicely.
And if NS is ever going to get retail, it needs to be popular! So using Source is only good.
And the second one is the new engine, Source vs old quake 2 engine. You all can just think about how huge difference lies in there.
Well I think thats about it.
I think this is it:

Iv got the smaller version from BT i'll upload the torrent in a sec

Go figure. My PC plays CS and NS equally as good (60-70 frames constant), but struggles with DoD.
