Problem with install on some systems

<div class="IPBDescription">Missing files/incorrect version</div>On some systems, if Natural Selection is started by using the desktop shortcut, it will give the error "Incorrect version", or "missing files", or something of that nature, when you try to join the game.

To fix this:
<b>Delete the desktop shortcut, and use the NS entry in your start menu.</b>

    Okay but I have a big problem, when I install it the instalation program tell me that I have a wrong CS Version ( I have the 1.5 V. of Counter-strike Retail ) and he ask a least 1.3 if my memomy is good.

    Can you help me?

    Yeah same here I'm pretty sure its because you don't have the default directory set for the game.  I installed to the correct directory but now it says I must install the custom game before I play a custom game?  So I think its looking for natural selection in the default location sierra/halflife, and I have everything installed in c:/halflife any ideas?

    my problem is ,when i start Natural selection from the desktop icon, everything is fine, but in costum game menu there is NOTHING ( i've got a few mods installed... ) and when i saz join internet game - he is collecting servers, but when i trz t ojoin he say's

    " YOU CAN NOT CONNECT TO A SERVER RUNNING CUSTOM GAME NS UNTIL YOU INSTALL THE CUSTOM GAME "

    and when i open the normal "hl.exe" and load NS from the customgame section, he is searching FOR ALL servers ( cs, dod, dm ... ) - but i got filter NS on.

    what should i do?

    do what Fam says and start from start menu or create a new shortvut DONT USE DESKTOP ICON ... no if's but's or maybe's dont use it <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    my filters still dont work.... even when going Through HL...all the filters for all my mods now are fuxxored...
