Here is a Side by Side comparision on the quality of the image. Note: If you cannot tell the difference, then you are not good at look at Detail very well. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Just extract all in the nsp/resource folder and should be set.

As for higher resolutions, u need to edit the txts to fit you size. (Math Required <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
then take a high resolution picture and slice it up appropriately.

Things that are different (for those 56Kers)

    - The laser beams look FAR better
    - Most notable change is the look on the pistol. no longer does it look like it's made out of lego at a 45 degree angle
    - The upper skulk's lower claw also has a notable change

A very nice buff-up job to the Steam NS screen. Well done!

    One question:
Is this for a game resolution of 1024*768 or the windows resolution?
  • raz0rraz0r Join Date: 2003-07-24 Member: 18395Members
its not a big change, but hell do you notice it
  • FlippyGcFlippyGc Join Date: 2003-02-09 Member: 13325Members
Ok, let me get these questions answered first.

-First off on my list, TacOne, It's for 1024x768 Full Screen. I don't know if it changes in windowed mode.
-Raz0r, My Screen says Change Game is because I edited the option on the GameMenu.res files, that option is like the Mod Screen on Won, where it pops up a list and lets you change mods without doing the Games list over and over again.
-Hellbilly, I will post a rar for the 1280x960 Res txts and the 1600x1200 txt, but unless you either have the 3.0 Image at the size, then you can't get it without losing quality since the biggest I've seen that image is 1024.

And thanks Nemesis for moving my post to the correct forums. Didn't know where to post it, even though I freaked a bit when I didn't see it in the same spot today. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Added More Rars on my site for the 1280x960 and the 1600x1200 Resolutions.
WARNING: These Do Not Have Image Files, In Order for these to work, you must slice up an image of the correct size.

    Directions:
    (For 1280x960):
-Download the Rar with the files <a href='http://webpages.charter.net/elitegaming/1280x960.rar' target='_blank'>Here</a> and place them in resource folder.
-Create a new folder called background in your resource folder. (If its not already created.)
-Take the image and cut it up in 320x320 images and save them in the apropriate name and file format.
Ex: Upper left would be called "1280_1_a_loading.tga", next one next to it on the right is "1280_1_b_loading.tga". The First image on the second row all the way to the left would be "1280_2_a_loading.tga". Get the pattern?
-Place all the saved image bits into the resource folder.
    -Enjoy!

    (For 1600x1200):
-Download the Rar with the files <a href='http://webpages.charter.net/elitegaming/1600x1200.rar' target='_blank'>Here</a> and place them in resource folder.
-Create a new folder called background in your resource folder. (If its not already created.)
-Take the image and cut it up in 400x400 images and save them in the apropriate name and file format.
Ex: Upper left would be called "1600_1_a_loading.tga", next one next to it on the right is "1600_1_b_loading.tga". The First image on the second row all the way to the left would be "1600_2_a_loading.tga". Get the pattern?
-Place all the saved image bits into the resource folder.
    -Enjoy!

Erm. For 56k it looks the same as DSL, ADSL etc. As the background is loaded up by the client and is default for everyone (unless you install the newer BG of course).

i think he wanted to save the 56kers some time by telling them what changes it makes instead of them downloading it and hating it.

Anyone can. I think "I<3Steam" can do it.

Great job, I hated the blocky, but now its greatness!

Yes, the question is, what resolution you have. You have to take the image and cut it up into blocks. Should be a checkered board of 4x3 (4 in each row, 3 rows).

    1024 x 768 - You need them in 256 x 256 blocks
    1600 x 1200 - Same but in 400 x 400 blocks.

If you have any other resolution, just got to do some math. Once they are cut it, you have to save them in tga format and the first four blocks on the first row should be named. Note, this is 1024x768 image so if you have a bigger or smaller image, u need the change the 1024 to the first number of your resolution, like 1600x1200 it would be 1600.

    1024_1_a_loading.tga
    1024_1_b_loading.tga
    1024_1_c_loading.tga
    1024_1_d_loading.tga

Then first block second row would be:

    1024_2_a_loading.tga
    ......

    Get the pattern?

Edit: Thx for the idea CCC.

Just a little note: you don't need 1600x1200 resolutions... There is no blockiness with it, as 1600x1200 = 800x600 times 2, and steam doesn't have any problem with that.
