is there anyway of getting rid of them
hi
just wondering if there is anyway to remove the teeth animation for the skulk? why? cause does not have its eyes in its mouth, also suffering from eplisacy. (can't even spell it! ) the rapid flashing motion may incite fits, an option to disable or change veiwpoint. it would be nice so i can play this game to its full.
cheers

it's like the muzzle flash on the lmg (and other guns) it obstructs view.
There used to be numerous ways around the "teeth".
There used to be a script
alias +bite "r_drawviewmodel 0;+attack"
alias -bite "r_drawviewmodel 1;-attack"
bind mouse1 +bite
There used to be models
Replace whatever model with this one
There used to be animations
New animations with no bite
Of course, the r_drawviewmodel command has been taken out and the models have been rendered usless due to sv_consistency.
Ahh the countless hours wasted of both sides yelling at each other. I never liked the teeth because they gave me a headache, and still do to some degree. Some people say its for balance. I will agree with that, but give it about 10 hours and you will get used to it and be able to play like they arn't there. Granted, if you are an epileptic I suggest never ever playing skulk.
Nevermind playing skulk, get yourself a doctor's note and hand it to your comm at the start of each round, you won't have to go on weld duty.
I've never played skulk without the teeth, but it sure as hell would give you an advantage over everyone else, I've been killed countless by a skulk that got lost in my muzzle flash, or killed by that bouncing marine that you lose behind the view of your teeth.
Kinda sucks I guess, but its not gonna be changed officially over problems for a few...If i were you i'd get a new model or whatever it is, a blank one, or one that doesnt bite or whatever was mentioned earlier.
I think an exception can be made for epileptics...
Anyways, if an epileptic is what I think it is, then yes, its basically best not to play skulk ever again.
Like esuna, i used hacks on a private server just to see what its like and what to look for. There was an interesting option that you could turn your skulk view into a third person view. It wasn't perfect, but the advantage it offered was blatantly obvious: I knew exactly where the marines were, even if they tried to straife jump/circle straife me.
The skulks teeth were put there for a reason. You can look at the model and see that the skulk has eyes on the outside.
This is the reason that alot of scrims are now turning on cl_consistancy 1 (i think that is what its called). It won't let you join the server if your models were modified because hiding things like muzzle flashes and skulk teeth bite animation would lead to an unfair advantage.
Edit: lol Lito, thirdperson view SUCKS for skulk.. you can't aim your bites at all. It sucks for marines too but it does have a distinct advantadge which I won't say... but seriously its much more of a disadvantadge than an advantadge...
thats because they gave the equivalent of a certain cheat

so you know whereyour teeth are
i honestly dont see anything wrong with changing skins to fit your personal preferance, unless your playing in CAL whereit would be more of a "not like everyone else" advantage,i use spec-ops skins for rines,spec-ops ip and pg,looks alot better, and i have a light semi transparent blue muzzle flash(it doesnt make me any better, just makes the game funner to play, easier on eyes)

What if my personal preferrence was for all skins to be BRITE white, with a big red hitbox?
I figure play with what you've been given and if you have a disorder or disability either deal with it or just dont play. Why should developers customise every part of a game just cause a minority may have effects to it?
I dont see why an epileptic should have a complete model change just for his benefit. Same as a person missing fingers doesnt complain and have the devs remove the amount of buttons needed at a certain time during gameplay.
Personally i would like consistancy checks on everything... What Blue november just stated is a reality in gaming.
I see nothing wrong with customising but when people remove things and make things easier to see to get an edge it gets serious (IMHO).

Removing the teeth isnt cheating at all, its frowned upon.
EDIT:: And by golly if you want to do it, then by all means do it, heh.
That's why r_drawview model was locked ..
If you have epilepsia, there are 100 more things that could cause more problems, welder, explosions, HMG/lmg nozzle flashes..
Skulk teeths are not only not bright, but they are also slow, frequency 1.8Hz is very far from 20Hz known to most likely cause attack..
But if you don't play in any clan I don't care, do what you want with your teeths, i will keep mine :-)
Number Two) The teeth are supposed to be there, and they are supposed to obstruct your vision when they are shut for balance reasons. Altering the game so that you can still see when using bite for whatever reason is, therefore, cheating.
If altering the game so as not to have bite flash the screen every time is the only way to solve this guy's epileptic dilemma, then obviously his choices are either to cheat, or to keep hoping he doesn't end up needing medical attention. He could also pick a new genre of videogames with less siezure-inducing mayhem. That'd be my recommendation.
Would that work?
Backup the model if you decide the original one was better.
