Alien seem to win all the time...
i still havent played ns yet but it seems that from all the playtesters and gamers posts that the aliens have a clear advantage over the marines... look at all the level 5 kills (shouldnt 3 marines be enough to kill it with lots of nades and big guns ? or even with siege cannons..) and all Skulk and lev3 or even fattys being all upgraded that seem to pulverize marines easily...after all i dont think that 5 aliens attacking 5 marines bases who have turrets and maybe siege turrets (500 damge shouldnt be enough for a onos?) shouldnt be owning like that...

EDIT* or did they already do that?
It was also said that the aliens found it very hard to win against a really well organised marine team. So the game probably had to be made as even as possible for a fairly high skill of marine, making the game when first played seem a little uneven.
It seems that the mentality of the marines also is a bit lame, I was playing on a server for about an hour and a half and the entire time the teams were 18:9 where the marines had 18 and the aliens had 9. No amount of convincing would even get a response from the frontiersmen side. Eventually all but 6 aliens left, and so did I. It was pointless, they had jetpacks, HMG's and all the maxed out stuff. They just grenade spammed our last remaining hive repeatedly. We couldn't even finish building any other hives, it was truly cheap.
Muwhahaha! Actually I think it's the exact opposite. I've yet to see the aliens win a game. It's hard to get into melee range, and even then a marine can shoot you faster than you can claw/bite him to death.
On the human side, only the commander really has to know what he's doing. With the aliens, everyone needs to work together in the beginning to get resource nodes and hives up. And some of the maps put at least one of the hives in a position where it can't be defended, so the Onus never comes into play at all. The marines just build all their bulidings in one clump and stick 10 turrets around it. That's incredibly hard to do anything against!
The teams were even, and although at one point we got more I convinced some people to switch sides. Our tactics were pretty simple.. we didnt really use any cheapness. We held as much of the map as possible for as long as possible then attacked the main hive when we figured it was weak. Because we heavily defended one of the possible hive locations they couldnt get Onos.. I dont think thats an imbalance, thats our tactics coming in.
It just seems like we got a lot of the people from other games who spawn camped, used cheap tactics, and grenade spammed.
I also feel that it's a little difficult for the aliens to get in close enough to attack a marine, and at that, it's hard to bite them several times due to the disorientation of the mouth covering the whole screen. All the while you're being shot at by the marine who you're trying to kill and his friends.
As for the melee attacks, they are sliiiightly to hard to pull of succesfully imo. In Vampire Slayer mod for HL, it is a challenge to succesfully use your claws on some1, in NS it's tricky and sometimes dodgy. Either the netcode is b0rking my melee attack(altho i had 65 ping), or u need to hit the marines with a perfect bite between the eyes (?) At the moment it feels like you collide with them, and then just slide past them. I either had to chase the marine into some dark alley to kill him, because he couldnt get out, or hit them in the right spot by fluke.
Funny, The skulks description says its best used in a 1v1 situaton, and the skulk even with speed/carapace upgrades still cant make the cut
Maybe in future versions, the skulk should disrupt your aim when it bites... It would give a even better reason to have a buddy around to nail the skulk thats chewin on your ###...

My feelings exactly ..
I'm yet to see ANY game won by the aliens.. They're just way, WAY too weak until they get 3 hives.
Also, I don't think it's fair for the Marines to have such kickass turrets while all the Aliens have is a slow goo-firing turret.
The teams are blanced!
With the tech trees, it seems that overwhelming victories are the way of NS. Close games come by now and then, but most victories (or defeats, for that matter) that I remember involve one side annihilating the other in a massive offensive and then sweeping up the little bits they missed afterwards.
It's VERY important during the early days of public NS that we all take a deep breath and, even if things seem to be weighted in one direction, really play the hell out of this game. It -is- entirely possible for people to get lucky or really unlucky and always have the same result on one side for one side -- Just make sure you wait more than just a couple rounds before crying out about balance!
Do note that I'm in no way suggesting the balance is perfect now -- there's undoubtedly going to be a couple issues remaining that will need to be modified for the public crowd -- but a lot of people seem to be far too quick to jump on the unbalanced game bandwagon a tad too early.
I finally won my first game as alien though. We had an excellent team that got resource towers up fast, and managed to get all 3 hives. At that point, we all evolved into Onuses and trampled the marines down.
So after that accomplishment, I played as marines for the first time. I'm not the best aim in the world, but I was usually able to kill a skulk with the light machine gun easily. Once I got a HMG, I took out at least a dozen aliens without even getting touched. Those siege turrets are ridiculously powerful too.
Once heavy armor came into play, I didn't die a single time. I don't think anyone on my team did. If we even got touched, the commander would just drop a medkit in front of us and all was well. Same with ammo. Sooooooooo easy.
But few people say that they can’t get close enough
In gloom with 600ping (due to US only severs) I tend to hide behind some thing some where let them all run pass (you listen for foot steps) follow them unnoticed then when they are busy attacking get them form behind
Getting in the middle of the pack all ways causes havoc especially with friendly fire off
Pounce at them when they just poke their head around a corner
In main CAMP CAMP and more forward CAMPs defence and all
And don’t be (don’t attack same way too long)
IF you have to attack Long distance approach try jump and strafe a lot and try not to be predicable

have you ever played avp or avp2? did you ever crawl on the ceiling? if you did did you notice how its harder to be hit and seen? well skulks are meant to be sneaky and fast. Just climb around on the ceiling and in vents, then jump on their head! Well game is probably sorta uneven because 1. everyone wants to be marine 2. they say the aliens are extremely strong and dont require much tactics, so people think they can just run down the hall and jump on the people. But people play NS know how to aim(from previouse mods) so they hit those aliens good and easy. You gotta not stop moving.*note again i will have more accurate info when i play it, I am just usin knowledge from similar situations and games* Hell run into a room then cloak and wait till they turn their backs, then you might get them. But be as sneaky as you can be, play it like you would play the Hitman games(awesome games). When im done dlin ill play with my clan and see if we can figure out how to be the best alien you can be(and the best marine). Also most people arent used to melee(unless youve played avp, avp2, vs, or other games) and it can be hard. Like in avp2 ive been an alien slashin and puncin and I couldnt hit some guys, it just wouldnt hit i was just hittin everywhere i flyin around, they couldnt hit me either tho sooo, just go nuts at them if youre a lil skulk but if youre an onos focus on what youre doin, goin nuts with a fast guy in any game is the hardest thing ever to hit(it even works in cs, you run around the guy in cirlces and jump around). But just practice and go into spec mode to watch the aliens and the marines to see what the alien does wrong.*note again dont flame me, its still not done dlin, im usin experience from similar situations* and if the people all go on one team, Join it so the game is unplayable and boring! that will get people to go, if that doesnt work or isnt possible, cuss them out and leave.
