Personally I think the new time sucks, 10 minutes? that's not barely enought time to level up takeout cc/hive unless yer good and get upgrades fast.But this is beta so I think it may change in the future what am I saying? duh lol


I mean alot of people want a quick game I assume? that is not fun people whine too much.I think the basic idea of the game is to have fun learn to play get skilled,get a (insert dirty word here)load of xeno kills <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> personal favorite of mine.

Combat should go back to the way it was no time limit,just to when CC or Hive is gone then next game/map.

    I like how it forces marines to attack, however, on some maps they are too big for the 10min timer.

    I would suggest minor tweaking of the defaul time to 12-13 minutes. Purpose of this is quite simple - allow several people to reach level 10 (most end with lvl6-8 right now). Otherwise timer is the best thing that has happened to combat in a long time - we actually see almost nothing but the teamplay on both sides now, since everyone is forced into it - marines by the timer and aliens by the teamplay on marine side.

    I agree that the increase in spawn rate and forcing marines to attack has helped alot. I also agree that adding a minute or 2 for most maps is nice. I can get to at least level 8 everytime, but for 10 I only have 50/50 chance. Getting 2-3 people instead of 1 person level 10 would be nice.

    combat has returned to it's former good-ness. my only gripe is that i cant get to lvl 10 every game. i think that it's kinda lame that frequently by the time marines have a decent enough force to take out the hive, there's only like one minute left. increase the timer by about 5 minutes and all will be fine for me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Ive found your average pub marine team needs a bit more than 10 minutes. However, this could be due to the fact that oftern there are a couple of gorges healing constantly.

    Getting Level 10 on every game should not be a guarantee. I kind of like how hard it is right now; that way a team that gets significantly ahead in levels actually retains that advantage for the game instead of everyone eventually catching up to Level 10 anyway. I do think that it should be a little easier for most players to get to the mid-high levels though; maybe the exp requirement should be reduced up to Level 7 or so and ramp up significantly after that.

    As for the timer, it's fantastic as far as I'm concerned. Combat has needed this for a very long time; finally games actually play out in a short period of time, as originally advertised. If you don't like it, play on one of the annoyingly large selection of servers who would rather set a huge time limit or disable it than adapt to the change.

    I must admit the timelimit is doing its job of short games...
    Although i agree some maps really screw rines over, my suggestion is a default of 15 mins which will allow most people to reach level 10 plus allow enough time for those longer maps. 20 mins would be better but people still want their short games.

    If not i think exp boosting should be slightly larger to ensure level 10ers.

    And you need Level 10 to kill a Hive? You GOTTA have all those upgrades before you can go in? Really.
    The original point wasn't 'build up to level 10, then go in and kill everything'... rather, multiple attacks on the Hiveroom, which gained you EXP so you were more powerful next time you tried, IF you were taken down on the way.

    There is no need for longer than ten minutes. There is a need for people to re-think WHEN they attack. It's at level one, two, three, four, five... you don't wait for ten, THEN attack. That's why people seem to see it as being so short.
    Y'don't always get to the top, in a game. Otherwise... well, why not just start there with three minutes to kill the Hive?

    Also, consider it this way. Ten minutes SHOULD be plenty of time. Extending it just means making the game more difficult for Kharaa.
    Once Marines pull their hea- er... realize the correct way to play Combat, with the timer instated, they'd WHOMP all over Kharaa with a longer timer. But then, I guess during 1.0 it was 'cool' for server ops to crank up the Marine res income, too.

    your suggestion is 20 minutes but some people still like short games? man. am i the only one who remembers when 20 minutes was a short game. am i the only one who thinks that a long game is 1 hour plus...remember....the early versions of NS. and non combat maps. im sorry guys but 20 minutes really isnt that long of a game. one thing to remember...this IS NOT COUNTER STRIKE! if you enjoy your 1-2 minute rouunds that much then please, go back to your CS. i enjoy semi-lengthy games on occasion cause team work and stratagy is what makes this mod unique. i got an idea, ,we can replace the aliens with anti-marines. and give them guns, incorporate a buy system in the game, get rid of the stratagy and resource collection, and get no respawn. and 2 minute rounnds. good idea huh? *that was sarcasm by the way*...im sorry...i just realized...i dont know why im still talking <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Tipp as much as I love classic over combat, this discussion is about combat. It should be short, which is what it is now. Then again, most classic games are decided within 12 minutes. hmm.

    Nonetheless, long games are bad, mainly because people may not have the time to finish a game, doesn't stress the urgency of moving fast, and people get sick and tired of long games.
