This isn't exactly an RPG, but more of a non-real-time RTS.

Basicly, I'll need three people. They will "Buy" units, and then take turns making moves. As they make moves, I will update the map.

If units are in range, they can attack. To determine if they hit, this formula will be used.

Attack Score + 1d20 >= Armor

So, if the unit's "Attack" number plus a random number from 1 to 20 is greater than or equal to the other unit's armor, they hit.

Two special cases:
1) A 1 on the 1d20 roll is a Critical Miss. The unit can't attack next turn.
2) A 20 on the 1d20 roll is a Critical Hit. The damage is doubled.

Players will start with 150 "points" to spend. Spend these points on units however you wish. You will not get a chance to buy more later.

If you are interested, post here which base you want. When that is decided, PM me with your unit selection.

Do not post unit selection here, as that can give away tactical advanatages.

The map will be updated when everyone has made their choices, and we are ready to start. From there, it will be updated when ever anyone posts.

Structure your posts as:

<Unit Name> Moves[Up, down, left, right, diagonally up-left, et cetera]/Attacks [Unit Name], et cetera.

    Seems we should just buy planes then. If most of the things on there can't hit a plane or isnt effective agasint it then they seem over powered.

    I’m also interested, but the ranges and unit speeds probably need refinement before this will be practical. Perhaps divide the map into a grid so we can get a better idea of distance covered?

    well, i would suppose that the aircraft are underpriced. unless they just let whatever troops you like attack each other. if any ground unit, like a heavy tank, could attack an airplane at no penalty then airplanes are fine the way they are. the same res in soldiers is more effective (but move slower). we need more info on how the battle plan works.

    Very interesting, I might join in a day or so. May I suggest you just use a grid? on that grid you could height map to adjust movement over varying lvls of terrain.
    Prehaps you would want to have a small html page/vb app that would keep track of units / map and be easier to maintain?

    meh, me too. but i'm still trying. this is a good enough idea that it can restart if everyone drops out. moreover, if someone (IE me) cant update, it wouldnt be too hard to replace them midgame. just need players. . .

    You see, I would join myself, but that wouldn't be fair, because I won't update the map until everyone makes a move, and if I know what moves you guys are making that turn, I could adjust my tactics accordingly.

    A few more questions before we start:
    1. Do we post our moves in here or do we PM them to you?
    2. How many units can we move or attack with per turn, and can we move them a distance less than their maximum speed?
    3. Can units move and attack simultaneously (notably the tanks and the aeroplanes etc, which can normally do so).

    As another note the grid squares are a bit small for the unit icons, so it is a bit hard to tell if they are in range...how do we determine if they are?

    And jeez, Dea has really strange unit selection <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    To see if a unit is in range, count the number of squares from the closest edge of the attacking unit's picture.
