    this sounds like one for tech support.

    fs_lazy_precache "1"

    use that command when you start up ns, then join a server

    I had exactly the same problem. NS freezed on every mapchange. I figured out that my problem is somehow related to my soundcards. Actually I've got two soundcards: one internal Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and one external Creative Sound Blaster Extigy connected via USB. NS freezes if I'm using the external soundcard, but it works without any problems, if I'm using the internal one.

    Best regards

    Stabilo

    I had the SAME problem as his for a LONG TIME!!

    And figured out that it was just because of the 'audio reproduction default devide'

    I changed it and everything went back to normal <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    yep <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> , Total Recorder is not the solution (to those who doesn´t have it, that is)
    if you wanna keep it, you´re forced to select it to playback through
