Alternate Attack And Defend

<div class="IPBDescription">Can we take an idea from CS?</div> I have noticed that some maps favor the Marine team and some favor the Alien team, plus doing the same thing over and over gets boring. So I was thinking, can we have some maps where Aliens attack and some, where Marines attack? Like in Counter Strike, (sorry if this offends some people who don't like CS) we can still have the timer but each side would have a chance to attack and defend.

Perhaps we will have a new class of "team stackers" people who only want to play the attackers or defenders. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I am thinking it should be random, or map based or both. Custom maps may not have the mode defined, so they can be random but the maps that come with the install should be designed for a specific mode.

    Yeah, the maps really need to vary on who attacks and who defends. Because in my honest opinion, it puts too much of a burden on the marine team if they're the only ones who have to worry about a timelimit.

    Look at co_core for example.
    That is possibly the most marine favored map in the entire Beta.
    But, how could marine's be defending if 3/4th's of the time in the current combat, they are already defending instead of attacking?

    We tried alternating during the closed beta of b4a, and marines defending was just silly. Due to their ranged weapons, it was a very, very boring 10 minutes with almost 0% chance of alien wins. Just.. take our word for it.. it's the anti-fun.

    Yeah I can see what you mean, by how it would be boring if all marines had to do was camp for the game to win.

    But a good way to fix this in my opinion would be in this case, to give the aliens the free exp gain over time in a case where marines had to defend. Then in a case where the aliens had to defend, you could give the marines exp over time so that the aliens wouldn't just camp doorways so marines couldn't even get in.

    Just a suggestion is all.
