I took the picture off the shelf, and sure enough.. it worked. I guess we're supposed to put the picture frame up there, see that it's at the same level as the CD, and go "AHAH! The spirit must see itself in that same spot!"

Am literally pulling at my hair. Perhaps I am an idiot, perhaps not, but please, please, please, just tell me EVERYTHING that is supposed to be on that shelf, because taking the frame off did not work.
I have a feeling the suicide rates are about to triple tonight.
cold beer (make sure it's cold as is "so chilly" cold), cd case with cd in it, incense, insence burning box to put a dead man's soul in should be in your inventory

Unfortunately, I did not solve this before I hit my head on the keyboard (which is now screwy), thus I am sad. Alarmed by the intense frustration this game caused me, I hereby boycott all future "(Blank) Room" games from myself.

You are in one room, ya don't move, you just turn around taking and manipulating items in the room to find what you need.
Burn Incense: Put by pot thing. Highlight lighter in inventory. Then click on incense.
Chill Beer: Put it in fridge. May take awhile to find where is goes in the fridge, but you'll find it. Close frige. Then go play Warning Forever for awhile, and by the time youre done, the beer should be chilly.
The beer won't go in the fridge unless you refresh the fridge status by picking up the rotten meat. Found that out after about ten solid minutes of clicking in random locations in the fridge until I dropped the beer in and instantly picked it back up agian (thus making it impossible to put in without refeshing).
do your really need that particular information??? just take all the objects off and put them on one at a time, the ones you need bring up the status from "sounds like a gaping whole in my heart" (or something like that, I forget) to the next level up. The ones you don't need have absolutly no effect on the message. The one exeption is that the beer can will react regardless of the temperature, but it only works as a key item if it is chilled.
The picture doesn't really make sense, it really is just useless to the end result. Do you even need to pick up the picure frame to compleate the quest?
[edit] oh btw, for people who have compleated the crimson room, if you happen to have links to the puzzle games he credits with giving him the idea it would be much appreciated.
