Beta 4

<div class="IPBDescription">Beta 4 flaws</div> Hello
Ever notice that now, with beta 4, aliens are excessivly better than the marines? Simply put, everything that was intended to happen didn't.. at least where I play. For one thing, unlimited adrenaline when flying allows for lerks to excellerate quickly, rise and fall quickly, and promotes nothing more than abuse of this "gift." Now with Beta 4, lerks can simply fly around, attack, fly away, and repeat this until they feel the need to heal.
With one player spawn waves, a team can be slaughtered in a matter of minutes. With only one player spawning every interval, the opposing team can simply slaughter their enemy, then wait for them to come back, whether it be through spawn camping, or setting up defensive positions. This is another abused "gift" that has no positive value, other than contributing to an already remarkably unbalanced game.
Aliens, although remarkably better than the marine, have one disadvantage, a 4th ability that costs 2 experience levels. No marine weapon costs this, (excluding the instance of the HMG/GL, those are weapons you choose go get, not have to) and it generally is the better move that the alien move gets (i.e. xenocide, primal scream etc). Further unbalancing the game, but giving The Frontiersmen the ability to avoid a better attack, or to simply take an alien upgrade that is often necessary.
If that isn't enough, Aliens now generate experience, freely. Is it me, or does this prevent any type of fair game imaginable? I'm assuming Flayra placed this in the patch to encourage Marine attacks. Surprise, Surprise, it's abused. Aliens can now simply camp, wait to gain experience, become an over-powered unit in the early stages of the game, and ruin whatever "fair" game was occuring during the poorly planned Beta 4 was running. Aliens gaining experience? That's similar to giving the marines shotguns to start with, it's remarkably abused, and has no apparent "good" intention.
The new sound effects, particularly the Heavy Machine Gun, aren't exactly necessary, as the speeded up sound resembles the previous Catalyst upgrade. Is it me, or has Beta 4 significantly decreased the level of fair in the game. Rather than provide a way to spawn in a safe zone, or to give marines a better defensive ability than simply jumping/crouch?
Now maybe, just maybe, this patch was released with the idea of encouraging certain actions, like marine attacks, or flying (why the hell do you need to encourage flying??). Honestly, I think Beta 4 was released to make Natural-Selection an easy, pick-up-and-play game. I don't know about any of you, but I honestly think this patch totally ruined Natural-Selection.

I just wanted to add one more little tid-bit before I part ways with this.

Right.. because totally ripping a game apart with over-abused, unnecessary additions is in the best interest of the game.. enjoy it while you can kids.. cause they'll keep doing it.

Discussion regarding the betas should be posted in <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showforum=31' target='_blank'>the public beta forum</a> rather than here. Preferably they should be posted after reading <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41193' target='_blank'>this</a>, also by Flayra.

Many, most, or all of these (I'm not going to search for each individually) are problems and undesired sideffects of changes that have been posted in the public beta forum before. Not only are these problems being noted, but the restructuring of the veteran/playtester system has been a part of a recent surge in behind-the-scenes activity. Because I'm not sure how specific I'm allowed to be here in the public forums, I'll have to leave it at "'stuff' is happening as we speak"
