Mouse Sensitivity

So uh, yeah. What type of mouse sensitivity do you like? High, low, in between?

Im using kinda lowish, but high enough to be able to turn well.

High sensitivity. I believe if you get used to it, you are a lot better off. With practice you can still take care of those precision long range pistol shots, but still have enough turning speed to pull off that instant 180 to pick off the skulk coming behind you. There really are no disadvantages if you simply become accustomed to it.

I changed my mouse and kept all else the same. I had to go from a 8-ish sensitivity to 2 sensitivity. It's still just a tad too fast. I noticed also that when I went commander, mouse acceleration seemed to turn on. (or at least my sensitivity went up, because I turned off mouse accel in games and windows) It was hard to control it was so fast.

I've always played at 9, any higher and it feels to quick, and lower and the mouse feels sludgy to me.

I play at 10. Anything slower is just to slow.

I use 12. It's easier to shoot at fast moving targets

    Dependent on Windows settings.

Me? I use 12. Any lower, feels sluggish. Any higher, becomes too quick.

Im with cole here but I still play medium to high. Not maxed out. I like a little more control when i comes to long range, so I set it at around 10 then I can turn quick and aim long range.

It really depends on the type of mouse and your windows settings.

For CS I play with a 2.0, in NS because pinpoint accuracy isn't as important as in CS I move it up to a 6.0, which makes it easier to turn.

My rule of thumb is it should be sensitive enough to follow a lerk in flight...

I use 11.5. Good and fast

i use 9 and 3... with a bind to swap between the two on S

9 for majority, but 3 for any long range pistol shooting at skulks etc.

far more useful in games like CS for sniping / CQC type changes, as there isn't a lot of long range in ns, but useful for the pistol bit now and then

I also have it high because I don't have a lot of space on my desk, so I don't want to move my mouse that much.

a constant 20, a bit of practise and your aim will improve, as with mine
  • Ugly_JimUgly_Jim Join Date: 2002-11-29 Member: 10235Members
I used to use 12, but I moved down to 7 based on the fact that lower sensitivity is more precise, and definately helps your aim. The sacrifice is, of course, maneuverability.

    Check the sig.

On almost every game, I have the sens at the max.. Just feels right to me.

I dunno what I'd do if I lost or broke this mouse, though.. 5 buttons, scroll wheel... Mmmm...

My mouse is a three and a half year old Logitech Cheap POS optical mouse with no pad, one worn-out mousewheel, and two buttons.

My sense is about 3.9. I play on 1280x1024. I think I have mouse acceleration on.

It works fine enough. I get kills I mean. Maybe I should try higher for aliens. What's the point though. I still can do 360 just by sliding the mouse all the way to the other side of my wrist-range.

My sensitivity slider is set all the way to the right and I still find it too slow. I'm not that good at tweaking Halflife so I don't know how to increase mousesensitivity in console. I asked around a few times, but I allways forgot.

    Anyone know the command?

13, as it is my lucky number. And it feels good. Anyways, it differs between mice. With my old Microsoft ball-mouse that's ~5 years old I had a sensitivity of 3. I'm trying to slowly increase the sensitivity to save my hands/arms, but it takes time.

I started with 9 but I'm slowly increasing it over time so it isnt a big change to get used to, im up to 16 now.

I also know people who use 50

I'd have to disagree. it's personal preferance really, but, with "lower" sensitivity. its way easier to stay on target I find. sensitivity "4" for the win. it's not so much about the mouse aiming either, i use my strafe left strafe right alot too ad can kill a skulk thats moving around without berly moving my mouse. : /
