About Hostile Intent dying, I would like to say that they have had several really awesome updates lately, including 4 filmclips and two large interviews. Another mod which at least has beautiful maps is Operation Red Falcon, I found it hard to believe they actually used the half life engine.

Hell yea its still alive! In case you dont know I'm the lead programmer for it... Development is taking a bit longer than expected because I opted to recode the entire mod from scratch back in march (The codebase had 3 or 4 former coders on it, and had code clear back to the original HL SDK, it was quite the mess, weird bugs.)
But all the weapons nay the akimbos are done, alot of new maps are in, new content, a spiffy installer (thank god for NSIS!, game modes planned include DM, LMS, TeamDM, and possibly CTF, etc.
Right now we just wanna release RC1 and get it out, so we dropped some of the more elaborate stuff like pillaging corpses, because in my humble opinion HL modding is nearly dead. Before you reply and go "shut up" to me, hear me out. I mean dead as in, continuing development of unreleased mods is probably not a smart thing to do. Players are moving, and have been moving to just playing established mods, and soon they would just rather download patches than learn new games. I'm concerned by the time some mods come out, it may be too little too late.
Oh you wanted a website: http://www.planethalflife.com/thewastes
Sorry for using the NS forum as well, a pimping platform but someone wanted to know ;P
We don't mind Gage! I loved WHL (was a charter forum member back in the Admiral Duck Sauce days), which is how I know Mr. Blonde. Also folks, Def_One is an animator for The Wastes, so you know they will be kicking.
I'm definitely going to grab TS when it's ready, as sometimes you just need to stop shooting Skulks with your automatic grenade launcher and do some crazy backflips while firing akimbo pistols.
I think Red Justice looks pretty fun too - I'm all in favor of mods with cool gameplay, and it looks to have it in spades.
All in all, a good time to be a Half-Life mod player - feast or famine!
heh. Yea im really proud of how TW is shaping up, and since I'm a big action fan (I was the head coder for Action UT for over year) Some of it has spilt onto that. TW doesnt have dives and the like but I did make some creative changes to how guns work and how accuracy works, taking some creative inspiration from games like DoD and AHL (for example alot of our weapons have manual recoil, similar to DoD, so our weapons can fire faster than in 2.1 but you must account for the recoil). Also the tilt damage system im pretty proud of.
Overall yes, lots of new mods coming out, cant wait to make a contribution here in the upcoming timespan (we are getting closer, trust me!. You guys are all angst-ridden towards other mods, but why? Yeah this makes me look down on some of the forum dwellers as well. Guys Red Justice looks awsome and who cares if its like TFC? If its fun to play then isnt that what matters at the end of they day? And the game isnt TFC with diffrent guns. They have new models, texutres, maps, guns, everything. Onlything similar is DM TDM CTF type games, but there is plenty of other games that have this.
I love TFC and ill probably love RJ. But for now its NS cause that has a style of play i want to try out. But i wouldnt start bashing it.
So when The Specialist combines 3 different gameplay styles it's a rip off. When NS does it, it's originality. *shrug*
The Specialist features stunts and realistic guns. As far as I can tell that's about where the similarities end with other games.
Half-Life features guns and aliens, that doesn't make it a rip-off of Quake. Natural-Selection features aliens and RTS style gameplay, that doesn't make it a rip-off of Battlezone 2.

IMO red justice is just another halo "rip-off" where humans find aliens and war ensues
Red Justice: Aliens: better than marines, ALWAYS using tech. to their advantage. usually physically better than marines.
Marines: tact. and teamwork (as always... cept for DOOM series) to win the day, and also using their brains much more than brute force of the aliens
General opinion (unplayed): Weapons are picked up in spawn, or some sort of "fund" system is used (kill = cash = gunz) or class system with pre-defined weapons. aliens are un-original as they have kinda over-used features (aka "grey aliens", seen in many "abductions" in the abductee's sleep/dream) and have generaly, well... crappy story line. nice modles and not that bad out-door map. looks ballanced.
Natural Selection: Aliens: weak in a sense that they are kinda "fragile", however, they quickly grow into more dangerous classes and strains. attacks are strong, yet are biological in origin. no technology, only biology.

I have to agree with monse, TS is really fun, plus it looks great in most respects. (that matrix effect when u kill someone well is also really cool) Its going to be my time filler till thursday, not that i have any time though really. Anyways, at least try it guys.

Walther WA2000 L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle Enfield Individual Weapon L85A1 (SA80) INSAS Assault Rifle Galil ARM Beretta AR70/90 (Yes, an automatic rifle) SAR 80 Vektor R4 Kalashnikov AKM Franchi SPAS 15 (Ok, so it's really an automatic shotgun, but still, it is automatic) Heckler & Koch 13E Heckler & Koch HK21E Light Support Weapon L86A1 Stoner M63 Machine Gun RPK FN FNC Valmet M76
And those are just a few automatic rifles. Want pistols?
Smith and Wesson 1006 PSM (Pistolet Samozaryadniy Malogabaritniy or "Pistol, Self-Loading, Small") Browning High-Power Model 1935 Browning Double-Action CZ75 MAB PA-15 Star 30M
How bout sub-machine guns?
Steyr MP69 (No, not related to the Steyr AUG) Vigneron Samopal CZ Model 25 Beretta Model 12 (An awesome gun I must say) Beretta SC70 Spectre (Remember the Phantom from the N64s Goldeneye? That's really the Spectre) BXP M3A1
Well, enough showing off for now. Make me a mod with those weapons and that'll show everyone. There are really a lot more realistic guns out there that are a lot cooler than the normal ones.

bang bang!
THIS makes me laugh. Of course you'll see a lot of the same guns in mods that use REAL WORLD guns. You don't really have hundreds of different guns to choose from when you are going for the realistic gun idea. (excluding the various variations i.e. Ak 74/ak 47 or mp5, mp5sd etc..)
If you can name 10 automatic rifles in common usage nowadays, that aren't just variations on another in your list I'll be impressed.

I'll do better than 10 automatic rifles in common usage, I'll give you a whole arsenal that I've never seen in any game that are used fairly commonly.. As follows:
(Feel free to check all of these)
Walther WA2000
L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle
Enfield Individual Weapon L85A1 (SA80)
INSAS Assault Rifle
Galil ARM
Beretta AR70/90 (Yes, an automatic rifle)
SAR 80
Vektor R4
Kalashnikov AKM
Franchi SPAS 15 (Ok, so it's really an automatic shotgun, but still, it is automatic)
Heckler & Koch 13E
Heckler & Koch HK21E
Light Support Weapon L86A1
Stoner M63 Machine Gun
RPK
FN FNC
Valmet M76
And those are just a few automatic rifles. Want pistols?
Smith and Wesson 1006
PSM (Pistolet Samozaryadniy Malogabaritniy or "Pistol, Self-Loading, Small")
Browning High-Power Model 1935
Browning Double-Action
CZ75
MAB PA-15
Star 30M
How bout sub-machine guns?
Steyr MP69 (No, not related to the Steyr AUG)
Vigneron
Samopal CZ Model 25
Beretta Model 12 (An awesome gun I must say)
Beretta SC70
Spectre (Remember the Phantom from the N64s Goldeneye? That's really the Spectre)
BXP
M3A1
Well, enough showing off for now. Make me a mod with those weapons and that'll show everyone. There are really a lot more realistic guns out there that are a lot cooler than the normal ones.
