Great Moments In Ns?

I just recently had one...

Was playing ns_agora, aliens start to turn the tide of the game, get a 3rd hive...

i'm walking down a long hallway, my teammates went off to rambo as i continue to the waypoint...

out of nowhere I hear this.. "hargghhh" then an alien chuckle, I turn around, stare a fade straight in the face, he chuckles again

Then focus-swipes me, i die.

reminded me of the movie aliens or something

    1.)
The day NS3 beta was made public I was playing on my favorite server. When the map changed to daimos I joined Marines and played just normal for a while. After a few minutes I got myself a welder and made my way to the Phasegates.
"Warning, emergency Phasegates have been activated!" and all the players were like "WTH??", "omg haxx!", "emergency WHAT?" and so on ^_^

    2.)
We were playing on ns_nothing and managed to take out their hive at Viaduct quite fast, however the hive at cargo was already building and we couldn't get there in time. Aliens managed to keep us very busy fighting for our last RTs and so we didn't even notice they got the hive in Silo going up. Our base was very good defended so the Aliens decided to take out our outpost at Viaduct first - They used the vents from Silo and Cargo to rush Viaduct constantly.
While most of us were busy fighting at Viaduct two Marines sneaked up to Silo and Cargo and build TFs and Sieges (we had plenty of res frm the fighting at Viaduct). I think the Com built 4 or 5 Sieges at each Hive without the Aliens noticing. Then the Com ordered us die at Via.
When the PG and TF at Via was taken out the Aliens were like "YES! Finally". Our Com responded "YES!" and scanned Silo and Cargo with went down before the Aliens could react.

    Ouch.

Mine would be an alien game.

We were on our last stance. The marines were at full tech, and had jetpacks. We were down to our last hive.

The marine comm decided it was a "Last Man Standing" match, and recycled his IPs,TFs and turrets. Pretty much everything.

The marines came advancing towards my hive (I built it BTW) with their HMGs and GLs, awaiting its destruction.

A big batle was fought and luckily I was the only survivor left, with only 26 health left. I managed to slaughter the marines left and right with lucky bitespam.

Soon after, my comrades respawned and we proceeded to parasite-kill the comm for his fewlishness. At that time he was busy trying to get up a TF and turrets but we all got regen, just in case.

on ns_veil just a few days ago I was playing a normal game when alliens just finished off the marines but one HA made it to pipeline (we had pipe and carge I think) and attacked the hive, soon ran out of ammo so he started to knife the hive so we deside not to bite him and just parasite him. we finilly kill him when the hive was at just 5%

Similar experience for me on ns_veil

We had one hive left, and as the HA train approached cargo, our onos made it to marine start. With a blessing from the commander who didn't build another CC or beacon, the onos took their CC and most of their base before dying. At the hive they managed to kill all but 3 of the HA.

Meanwhile I was putting up sub sector, the 3 remaining Heavy armours made a long a pointless trip to check Pipeline (i guess... they went somewhere anyway) ... I went to marine start, spat the remains of the armoury (ahaha no ammo) and ran to pipeline. As the 3 remaining HA's used up all their ammo on sub, I put up pipeline. They came all the way back eventually to pipeline but it was 75% done, and i managed to hold the ammo-less HA back with my spit, killing one of them until the hive was built and we ended the funniest game ever.

I'm so glad my team didn't f4.. it must have been so tempting.

I've never seen anything like it and I doubt I ever will again...

Its was on the map that has Mother, Port Engine and Sub Hives (sorry I dont know the name)

    I was on Aliens

Really long fought out game but the marines were starting to take control, we fought on, but it was a loosing battle.

Down to one hive, and they were on their way, a big fully loaded HA train. As a last ditch effort we decided to rush their base. We rushed in and found it almost completely undefended! Took out the PG first, then the IPs

Mine was back in 1.04 when you didn't slowly die after all the hives are gone. It was the first incident that I've seen of the "fatty fort". My friend Onslaught, now {DEAD}Onslaught decided he didn't want to be too easy to kill so he found a high ceiling vent and started building dc and oc like crazy. Well once we found him it wasn't pretty, some of us we're still using lmgs because the commander didn't see it nessisary to better equip us since it was only mop up. And after we started to put pressure on him he got out a back way we didn't think about and put up another hive extending the game further.

I've had plenty of great experiences. Fights for the 1.04 maintanence hive on eclipse are probably my favourite. The heavies are high up on the old entrance shooting down at the hive and fades are furiously fighting back. Grenades, bullets and acid absolutely everywhere. The room wouldn't stop shaking.

    Plenty of those ...

I think the one on ns_ayumi where we had relocated to the top left hive, and locked down Hamasaki, where we had a battle with about 4 HAs vs 5 onos rush at Eastern Entrance. Quite the comedy as the HAs won; the oni werent the best at devouring.

dont remember the map or the hive, but i will draw a picture.

i had recently joined the game, and was givin an HA and an HMG. the train went off towards soemwhere but i decided to check out the phase network real quick. first stop was some outpost nowhere important, next was a hive. at the hive there was not much, just a phasegate and a few turrets.. and one light armor guy with an LMG. he was crouching on the G and looking out the door (D) down the hallway. i came in the phase and looked at him. he looked right back up at me, then i looked down the hallway. i saw an onos. i looked back at him real fast, but he had disapeared. the onos charged at me and i just lit him up. he got slowed down by the turrets in his way, and i kept pumping him full, once he got past the turrets as i was reloading i jumped on somethin, dont remember what, and then lept past him. he turned around to face me and then i started firing again. i started walking down the ramp ® and shooting at him as he was struggling with the turrets again, when something hit me. literally. i was knocked from the ramp down into the sewer pit thing. i landed on the S and turned around. another onos. i kept my fire focused on the first to try and take him down with me, and he happened to be on his last breath. he went down. i turned towards the other onos, which was in the pit with me. i planted about 30 more bullets in his face when i ran out of ammo. as i reloaded and madly attempted to hop past him he got in a few more good hits, and i had lost most of my armor. i finally got my HMG reloaded as i got past him and started working my way up onto the level ground, but i was not fast enough. he got me. we had lost the hive.

Ah I remeber that game. I joined aliens late hearing the beep after you had lost your last hive. You were the only one alive with about 3/4 HA marines alive. Then I heard "CC DOWN!!" I thought, oh here we go they have obviously built another one, but no! About 20 mins later kaze had won that game. Last night on Hera, after clearing out every part of the map marines had tried to take they ended up with ip's on top of the crates on the landing pad outside. 3 hives were up and it was time to ridicule them to death.

Went skulk on top of the clorf where no-one would notice and started my parasite-kill rampage, just to say 30 or so parasites later and no kills I was bored....time for a leap-xeno...I missed the ledge and ended up xenociding underneath it, boom!!! 7 marines got blown off the ledge into the pit-o-doom Classic stuff.

No idea on which map this happened, long time since I played it. It's the one with refinery.

Anyway, I joined marines lategame, aliens just got their third hive and had all the upgrade chambers, while the marines were pinned down in MS just after their outpost in DRes got overrun. Lerks, fades and cloaked skulks were constantly pouring out of the elevator shaft, but we managed to hold them off with contineous spray and pray fire (Who needs observatories, feh ). After a while, a lone rambo managed to sneak to refinery without getting killed, and he setup a phasegate at the res. chamber. So when things were going slower (aliens were probably res. whoring somewhere) we all phased to refinery and shifted our game from defense to offense. I'll say, if there's something as a great moment, it's probably fighting for 5 minutes with just LMG's to take down a hive in a three-hive situation, and we succeeded! So we set up a quick outpost there to stop a gorge from ninjaingthe hive back and proceeded to sneak towards the hive closest to the MS (forgot name, heh), by that time we had enough res to drop a few big guns and the hive went down smoothly. Everyone was running around pumping rounds into the hive, attracting the attention of skulks and fades, while I hid behind it (hehe) and knifed the hive in little pieces. They never found me, not even when everyone was dead, I just kept knifing until the hive was down.

So then only feedwater was left, and the game had shifted pretty much from 'defense with no chance' to full offense. Great comming. Unfortunately, by that time the aliens caught on and did a massive strike on our base while we were preparing a Siege ambush on feedwater from the vents. They managed to kill our base faster than we could siege theirs and we lost.

That was basically the best game I've ever played.

Best moment in NS I've ever had was in 1.04, on ns_eclipse. I was crouch-walking real quietly in that corridor on the right side of 'rine base with the res, I was down near the end of it and Ididn't pay attention for like...10 seconds. I start crouch walking again, and I see the following text: "Hello Marine." I ignored it, and kept walking slowly. Then again: "Hello Nexus (old name of mine)." I was like "WTH is going on." I hear something behind me and turn around. Staring me in the face was an Onos. A truly enlightening experience, I tell ye.

    Hehe.

I remember one time I was skulking and came across a tf and an rt. I was biting the rt, then I heard a recycling sound. Ok, that's fine, I moved on to the tf. A marine comes and kills me. I come back to take him out and finish the job, and the rt is still there, in yellow hp, but the tf isn't! The comm recycled another building and faked me out! Felt so stupid hahaa.

Oh and a classic bast moment:

Hehe, so Bast is the name. I'm glad they're including it back into Beta4. That map really stimulates people to improvise, and a win or a loss is never certain until the last marine or alien dies.

I forgot to add this earlier but I bet noone will believeit.

Greatest moment ever was on ns_eclipse. Marines were outsdie Computer Core hive, and I was a lerk. Marines were outfitted with HA, and were proceeding with heabvy weapons. Our Onos tried to take them out but sadly, he died quickly even with umbra support (must've been an unlucky umbra)

So the rest of the team were left as skulk or gorges, and I'm the one who remained as the lerk. Marines decided to weld up, and that was my time to catch them with their pants down.

I jumped from ones head to another, and another, killing them off one by one, occasionally retreating into a vent to heal up. Fortunately, that vent also happened to lead back into Computer Core. So that GLer couln't get me easily.

2 down, 3 left to go. I stayed on top of the hive, waiting for them. When I heard HA footsteps I made use of the innate perch ability (aka an exploit in HL that allows you to stick to walls but is hard as heck to do) on a nearby wall and when they all had their backs turned on me, I did it, again. Head by head, I tore them down.

Shortly after, another wave of marines came in but this time it was jetpackers. I managed to down 3 of them but one managed to weaken me with a shotgun blast and a stray grenade got me caught in its blast.

    Most. Tense. Game. Ever.

BTW, I was a bit high on caffeine intake at that time, which explains it all. Caffeine is a performance enhancer, after all, albeit a short term one.

Best game of recent memory last Sunday.

I was commanding on ns_nancy which I really deplore because of ns_messhall. Aliens started in port engine. We tried the usual rush to mess hall only to be obliterated and lose the CC dropped before recycle. So we try to keep pressure but focus on aux gen. For a few crucial minutes in the early game, aliens had total map control. There was a epic battle going in aux forcing me to quickly get a second IP up. However, aliens forgot mess long enough to allow a few marines around into mother interface. We built the RT and TF in mother and set up small base. In that time a fade appeared and noname was up. After constant battle for subspace and subsequent slaughter, one marine snuck into port so we could take it out using LMG and phase. IT worked!! Immediately, another marine was in noname (it will always be noname) in the bottom. so we PG rushed with LMG and took it down. Success!!! Now, to this point, I'd been running off two nodes MAX and very little upgrades, just med and ammo spammage at the crucial times. After noname went down, we realized that all the DC's had been dropped in there. So we rushed back and killed all three. Subspace was now going up again, port was live (immediately dropped after we killed it), and we knew they'd have DC soon if we didn't react. They had a fade hitting us hard from early on, but at one hive with no DC's, this was our only chance to take the advantage. We rushed subspace, and set up siege in mother interface. The hive went up during the assault and they built the DC's IN subspace (YAY!). We sieged out sub, killed the DC's, and pinged Port. They had 2 DC's up, but still on hive. We finally pushed into port, and took it down.

I had given up on that game within the first 3 minutes of winning, but due to some great marines, and great perseverance, we won. The aliens AND the marines loved the game because it was like NS was meant to be, epic!
