Invasion

For the love of God!!! Work!!
Work.... Work... WORK!!!

In the year 2040, Linkage was the greatest computer company in the world, taking out Microsoft from the market (VERY unrealistic ). Only a handful of people did not use Linkage programs. Even the military had their own personalised computer programs. With the great advance of the computer age, and with the monoppoly of Linkage, if you did not use Linkage, you were isolated from the world bascially. Linkage had complete control of the world. Everything and everyone rellied on them.

Linkage was controled by one single man, named Robert Hope. He wished to leave the company to his son, but he could not have a heir. He tried everything, but everything seemed to fail. After dieing at the age of 37, in a car accident, the company had no control. It was controled single handly by Hope, and without a heir, there was no control of the company. So, four men began a power struggle for the company. Each one of them were responsible for each of the main areas in the world, representing Linkage. David Heart, head of the Americas. Alfonso Giuliani, head of Europe and Russia. Iwo Keinji, responsible for Asia and Australia. Mark Thompson, responsible for Africa and the Middle East. These were the men struggling for power. Their struggle began at the year 2044, one year after Hope died.

Twisting the governments, each men took over their designated areas to try and destroy their oponents. This lead to a World War. However, their main struggle wasn't to invade each other, or to gain territory. The main struggle was at Antartica. Antartica grew to be the most important place for the development of new computer hardware and new weapons, due to its extreme cold, and relative cheap cost. Several cities were extabalished there, under the protection of huge glass bubble, to prevent the cold. These cities could not be bombarded, as this was the main target of the countries. If they were destroyed by bombing, then it would be useless to take over the place, as factories were already estabalished. Instead, they would take over with man to man combat, and few explosions. Hacking was also a way of battling the companies.

Antartica grew to be a place of death. Antarticans began their own resistances, refusing to be taken over by anyone. Mercenaries also began to appear, working for the person who would give the greatest amount of money. Hackers also appeared, working exactly like he mercenaries. And of course, there were the soldiers, each one working for their leader. Heart, Giuliani, Keinji, and Thompson.

There has been constant threat by all four leaders that they will attack the Aeris Dome. It has been said that the Resistance is trying their best to halt any attacks, by sending in more troops there. However, this is not seen, as it is completely underground. Until now, all is quiet. Nothing new has happened. Citizens are living their lives normaly. That is, until the incasions begin.

This is where you start. You can be a normal citizen of the Aeris Dome, or a mercenary searching for a job. You cannot, however, start as a soldier of the four leaders, as they still haven't invaded. If you want so, you may do later. Only restriction about characters.

Just tell me your name, color, gender, height, area and background.

What I mean by area is what you are. The following are listed bellow:

Civilian

Soldier

Merc

Hacker

-You can start as a civilian, ans then chose what path to go. To be of the Resistance, you need to be a civilian first.
-As a soldier, you start as a Pvt., and you need to chose whom you support.
-Mercs can be any side you want, and do anything you want. You just need to respect the authorities of the soldiers when you are not working.
-Hackers don't need to be officialy part of any group. They can be paid for hacking, or they can hack in for their own reasons. You just don't do a lot of fighting, as you need prefer hack instead of fight.

You have 20 points to separate between the following:

Strength: How much damage you do in melee combats, and what you can or cannot lift up/carry.
Agility: Evading attack increases
Charisma:How well you can talk to people and be convincing
Intelligence: How well you learn new things and how well you adapt.

Here, you have 50 points to separate:

Sneaking: How well you move quietly
Hacking: How well you can hack into coputer terminals and doors
Interogation: How well you can extract information from someone
Sniping: The higher, the better aim. How well you manage sniping weapons.
Melee: How good you are with melee weapons
Medical: How much and how fast you heal someone
Small weapons: How well you manage small weapons (SMG, Pistols)
Large weapons: How well you manage big guns (Machine guns, rifles)
Exposives: How well you manage explosives (C4, granades, etc)
Shotty: How well you manage the shotgun
Mechanical: How well you can manage mechanical units (non-computerized)
Vehicles: How well you can pilot a vehicle.

Please note that certain things will have to be done together with others. For example: To start a certain broken robot you need to program it (hacker) and to fix it (mechanical).

As for weapons, I"ll leave it up to you. They just have to be realisitc, like the guns we have today. So no plasma cannons, or laser pistols.

Also, see that it fits your character.
* If you are a civilian, you might have a pistol, tops.
* As a soldier, you won't have so powerful weapons (rememebr, you start as Pvt), but you can show off your guns in public, meaning more guns.
* As a merc, you might have more powerful guns, but you want to be descrete. Don't call much attention. You might leave them, however, inside a truck or soemthing
* Hackers use their brain over weapons. Uzi like gun max.
* Resistance people (later on, when join it) will have powerful guns, but very few.

Vehicles are the same as guns. No flying cars. You might have a pick-up truck, or a bike for starters. No flying stuff also. You don't own them. The military does. But you can steal them

If you guys need any clearing up, tell me. I'm trying to do this right now. Any contructive criticism would also be appreciated by everyone.

Just a word of warning on the skill system. With no limit on starting skill, and with a linear skill progression, you are likely to encounter "extreme characters". Nuub ran into the same problem in the black ravens, with the first two characters pumping their main weapon skill above 30 (with 70 points to split between 10 or so skills). You might want to either impose a limit (say, 10 or 15 points at most in a single skill from the beginning), or use a non-linear skill (so a skill of 4 costs more than twice that of a skill rating of 2).

    Name: "Wraith"

Peter Steele was born in Antarctica 16 years ago. He grew up in the sprawls, trying to survive, and trying to make a name for himself. He did. His parents died when he was 11, probably because of some gang assasination. The police told him, but as they were trying to find a place for him, he ran away. Living in the shadows, he's gained some sort of a reputation (more like one that's discussed over a beer than an actual form of respect), because few people can find him when he does not want to be found (but then again, few people care to try and find the kid). He maintains several safehouses around the city, using the money he can earn, never stealing from single persons when he has no reason to (never stays out of corporate warehouses when he has no reason to either). He never tells anyone his name, giving them a fake name if it's a legal job, and introducing himself as "Wraith" if it's not.

Think we'll start now. Just to clear some things up on your characters:
Everyone is fine, but just remember how real world would be. There is no current threat now, so you won't be walking around with a whole bunch of weapons showing off to the public.

The city is like a normal city, so don't expect ruins everywhere...

Only threats are being made by the leaders. They say they will start the invasion this month. Several different people are arriving. Resistance memebrs most likely, and mercenaries, looking for jobs. Until now, people are trying to live their normal lives.

Where you are is up to you. You can be sleeping at home. Or you can be arriving, lookig for a job (if you are a merc). Or returning from work.

And around you is that, first, it's morning. And that there have been threats of an invasion of the city. So, more and more strange people arrive into town, probably Resistance soldiers.

And Xect... in that case... there would be a threat. Won't try and coach you through, as you have more experience than me
