I am new to modding in general, but I have always wanted to get into it, and this seemed like a manageable project for a beginner.

Anyway, I got the idea from Counter Life - a mod where you can play through HL Single Player using the Counterstrike system of buying weapons and using their weapons/grenades etc.

I was wondering if a similar thing could be done with NS and Halflife. My idea is to be able to play through as an alien whith the ability to customize yourself to match any situation.

Each segment of the game would net you 1 upgrade point (like co maps) which you can use to enhance your characteristics / evolve into higher lifeforms. Then upon death (or perhaps incorporate a feature) you can re-assign all the points to suit your needs better. (Onos is only viable in the open - and their aren't many open areas).

I guess I'm wondering where I should start, if it will even work, etc. Do I need source code? Like I said, I'm new, but I am going to school for programming, and I think this could help me out a lot - plus it would be a lot of fun <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    lol, replace freeman with the co system for aliens? lol, that'd be sweet. i'm sure you would need coding of some sort from both half-life and ns, and permission from the ns team and maybe valve as well. i'd play it though, that'd be awesome.

    putting ns into cstrike would remove the lameness of cs pretty well. Now i think about it you can do this already by converting cs maps into co maps and turning ironman and possibly hambone on. Pity i can't even make a box as a map without half-life crashing let alone edit another one.
