<div class="IPBDescription">I can't join any games now</div> This applys to all NS servers Ive tried to connect to, both with and without cheating Death running...


Whenever I try to join a server, it tells me I have been kicked because it cannot contact the verification server... error #27


Any ideas?

    Yep .. looks like steam is down again.

    Nothing on their website (steampowered.com) about it so its probably a denial of service attack. The website was down for a while so I guess everybody was having the same problem and decided to check it.

    Either that or they decided to launch an update at one of the busiest times in the year and their servers couldnt cope.

    Or even, cstrike/ns got mentioned in national news/magazine somewhere and a stackload of people decided to download it (and condition zero auto d/ld with it).

    Should hopefully be back to normal in a few hours (from experience) but who can say.


    what a load of crap - bank holiday and we cant play ns/cstrike - what a great advert for UT2004/1942

    On the plust side, it is mildly amusing to watch the number of people connected to servers steadily decrease. People that are actually connected must know something is up by now.

    I just tried going to the Steam website. They're overloaded so I came here. I'm glad I'm not the only one, heh, but when I try logging out Steam crashes. Maybe that's just me, though.

    no probs for me here since day 1 when it came out of beta...i just cant play now because of this auth server thingy but it should get cleared up soon.

    Its not a free service. You bought Half-Life and with it came a multiplayer option. They upgraded their multiplayer end and it BLOWS. Its a Trusted Computing POS, and hardly ever works the way it should. For as much money as they made off of HL, CS and other mods they bought, they should be providing a better service then they are. I swear they don't beta test anything throughly.

    You don't have a right to Steam or WON

    You bought a licence for the use of the compiled code. Thats it.

    Included in said compiled code (aka, program) Is the ability to connect to other computers Via LAN or WAN(wide area network). It is infact possible to set up a duplicate of WON, and connect to it via changing some stuff.

    No where in the purchase are you given the assurance of a Connection Server (all Won/Steam are in bare bones).

    Technicaly, Valve can never update HL again, and shut down all servers. And your just SoL.

    Just remember, it realy is a free service.

    AND We are not Steam, thus we realy can't do anytihng about it. If you wana complain about Steam, go to their forums.
