In middle of NS and BAM..crash.
I will be in the middle of a game of NS, playing ...roughly 1-3 hours, sometimes I'm moving, sometimes I'm not. Well, my keyboard, AND mouse stop responding. Completely. Give it...20 seconds after they stop, my system crashes. Completely crashes. I know this isn't a Steam issue, because it doesn't do this when I'm playing Counter-Strike. It does this about 7-8 times a day. I reallly don't know what to do...but here are my system stats...the odd thing is, during the time that I can't do anything, I can hear others on the mic, and sounds, and everything...just can't move. I can get shot up tho. x_o

- Windows XP Service Pack 1
- AMD Athlon™ XP 2600+ 2.1 GHz
- NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU Ver. 6.14- Operating system
- 1280 x 1280 in 64K Colors, OpenGL
- Counter-Strike retail.
- Use Steam
- Natural Selection 3.1b (Most recent)
- Logitech Wireless Duo

After system recovers, I get this link from microsoft. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/Response.asp?SID=77#top Says it's a device driver, well, I HAVEN'T INSTALLED ANYTHING. ><!!
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated guys/gals. =)

- Terry.

    Let me do the math:

1-3 hours of playing time b-4 crash

    7-8 crashes a day

Hum: 8 to 24 hours of play per day. WOW

I would check drivers for kb and mouse and graphic card. Try using a wired setup if possible to see if that works.

Haha. Yes, I do play NS that much. I have already checked both. I have the NEWEST keyboard AND video card drivers. I don't know what more to do...=\

Do not use NVIDIA's latest drivers. They messed up my games totally. (ie constant crashing). I just bought an ATI so that's not an issue for me anymore. I know that I wasn't the only one with the issue because I asked around. Rollback to the drivers before the latest and you should be fine.

EDIT: I also had a Geforce 4 MX

I to use a Geforce4 MX 420 and downloaded the latest drivers just this week, driver dated 3-24-04 v 5.6.7.2 and works just fine. Given this is the newest I could find it may work better. It is also WHCP signed.

I have my video settings at 800 x 600, Medium 16 bit color, and Open GL.

BTW- When I first loaded new drivers NS started in software mode which I changed to Open GL, and have not had a problem.
