Allow one thread to give away all the precious, precious map secrets. Just one. A leetal one.

Make it a SECRET thread, which you have to do SECRET THINGS to get to!

And do you know how many new threads there were each day asking for a release date.
It really dosn't matter. People will still create threads asking, rather than search.
Besides, finding those secrets is the fun. If you can't find them, you don't deserve them.
What's next? another secret thread to tell them where the first secret thread was to tell them where the secret room is!!
lol...
*sings* "this is the thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some newbies started asking questions, not knowing where it was, but they'll continue asking them just because because because..."
Plus, the mappers already get ENOUGH disrespect from people running things like Stripent.
Wha?
PS: Is it short for strip entities? I'm very much not a mapper.
the title : DONT ASK ABOUT SECRET ROOMS, YOUR THREAD WILL BE LOCKED!
and make another stickied topic only containing very little hints.
(need some good 24/7 modding though <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
Is it that hard?

So if it is a secret thread, who can watch it and who can't? :\
You should go through and edit all the old threads bout map secrets and start pointing them at each other
edit**wow, i made 1 post elsewhere and they are gone! oh well, understandable...
Yes.
I mean no.
Half the fun of easter eggs are finding them and feeling proud that you found something really cool all on your own.
Does decompiling the map or nocliping around it count as "finding" secrets. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I think most secrets are found in the cheating brute force manner described above instead of mindless +useing everything in the ready room and then spread by word of mouth.
Mappers should use a thin hollow "shell" around their secret areas with nobuild(or black) texture on it if they can spare the resources. That would make it that much harder to cheat with noclip, unfortunetly decompiling would still work like a charm if it doesn't crash the decompiler(could you do buggy architecture in a remote part of the map that crashes the decompiler? a func_wall with a face with 4 vertices that are not all in the same plane perhaps(should work to compile and play with only a warning)?).
edit: added a very important "de"
edit: Also, you could still find secret rooms if you used ripent and found entitites in odd locations far outside the ready room or playing area but it would be a bit of a hassle to do this. A counter for this might be to not use func_walls but instead use brush entities that need an origin(such as rotating platforms whatever the entity is called(func_plat_rotating?)), and put the origin inside the actual map.
I think you mean a walk-through wall. You can't see invisible walls anyway. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Secret thread would show you how to get to the secret rooms.
But a link to the secret thread on a wall in the secret room.
