Looks way old fashioned. Like some prototype from ww2 that sucked, so they stopped production.

Old fashioned...? take a look at the default LMG for christs sake... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And you were probably refereing to the German FG-42 that <b>wasn't a prototype</b>.
Full name is Fallschirmjagergewehr 42, it used the powerful 7.92 x 54 Mauser Bullet and it was quite successful. It was a select-fire (semi and auto) assault rifle (also used as an LMG) meant for paratrooper regiments, and used a 20 Round side-fed magazine.
I was searching for pictars, but can't find 'em. Inform yourself before tripping over youself <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And if you don't like it, make one yourself! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Personally, I like it.
A grip'd be nice though....
Worst. Thing. To say. Ever.
He is giving his opinion, you don't need to say somthign like this to him.
And somehow I can understand him, it looks like a mix between G3/G36/MP5.
Anyway, model critz:
-Magazin too small
-The stock's attachment to the gun-body looks unattached
-The frame around the part where the left hand is supposed to go (in the front) looks like to be sticking out too much, so having a hand there wouldn't feel good
Might've been successful if it had managed to receive a higher production run, which would have brought on more research and improvements. Because it got neither, it was never made in to anything that would last.
It was terribly hard to fire undeployed, though, unlike its RtCW interpretation. It had little accuracy and its low weight versus its powerful round gave it far too much recoil. The BAR was more successful, despite being heavier. Its weight made its recoil more managable, but a pain to carry for any distance.
Over-all, though, the FG42 was a failure. It only made any kind of difference in very limitted circumstances. It was the MP44 that went on to be remembered in the form of the AK47 and its ilk. The FG42 was practical in too limited an array of circumstances to be a long-lasting weapon and the Reich went down too soon [in this regard, anyway; they should've gone down about ten years earlier] for them to invest properly in its improvement.
EDIT= Sigh, once more I have proven I completely suck. It was AKA the MP-44.
Obviously it had a tremendous recoil, being that it used the full-sized mauser cartridge, 7.92 x 54 (being used on any mauser bolt-action rifle, reports from my own grand father said some soldiers had their shoulders dislocated due to the recoil ... ) rather than the developed later on 7.92 x 33 Kurz cartridge used in the StG. 44.
I was aiming at a "scientifical" type of success, rather than combat-rated, being it that it brought some innovations. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> Like the so called intermidiate round which generated the 7.62 x 39 AK round.
Now, end the WW II discussion, and back to the topic... and yes, it does quite remember the FG-42. It's bulky, side-fed and... looks good, needs a really good skin to match it up.
Just one thing: I think you should make the front sight smaller and add a dot or something.
- Remove the reflex sight and use ironsights. (adds detail so it doesn't look so bare)
- Raise the magazine to line up with the barrel. (for feasibility)
- Make a longer, thinner, curved magazine. (Straight fat mags are ugleh)
Good to see you're still around, Duo.
