    Something was done, I cant believe there are still misconceptions about this. Bhopping was (officially) deemed fitting for the aliens. Flayra left it in on purpose.

    I guess you got a point about the triple jump script tho.

    Let's see....Flayra is a programmer, XP-Cagey is a programmer, and *gasp* jev is a programmer!

    I wonder what they'll be brewing because Cagey is pretty good in making map compile programs(ok, modify) and joev is teh server guy....

    Makes me wonder if it would be an server built-in map creator.....hehehehe
    Or making infestation parasite players.....or teh scorpians!
    Or maybe more weapons for NS because they found a way to bypass the weapon limit without anything buggy happening?!

    Actually, Cageys main task around NS is to maintain the site. Not trying to neglect his outstanding abilities as coder here, just pointing out that his HTML and PHP knowledge is just as extensive.

    I was going to venture that they were going to implement Cagey's own idea of "power cells" (check his sig), but now that Nem has told us that he's a site administrator or whatnot, never mind.

    Realistically...they are wanting to move the game out of beta...so I really doubt it is anything that could effect balance. Thus, it is pretty unlikely to be anything that would specifically benefit the Marines or the Aliens. Otherwise we'd be in beta for ever as they work out balance issues.

    It must be something else. Something a player can use regardless of whether he/she is an Alien or a Marine; or some new game form.

    Multipul upgrades or... "reevolving" for aliens to allow more then one type of chamber ability (ala Combat)

    Lerk spikes

    The elimination of a major tech/unit in the game and replaced with something new

    As stated, the ability to build chambers freely

    I kind of doubt it is any of those.. for the following reasons.
    First of all, Flayra Joev and xp-cagey are working on it. So it generally isn't something that flayra could do himself. Right?
    So that rules out Lerk spikes, multiple upgrades and removing/adding tech/units. To put it simply, Flayra has already done examples of all of these things. Lerk spikes he could probably do in a couple seconds, multiple upgrades probably just copy it from combat and so on. The removal of tech or something wouldn't require anyone else, let alone help from two people.

    Second of all, what is being worked on is a "SYSTEM". Thus it must to an extent by systematic. Right? Most of the systems in NS work behind the scenes. Its not something they could just describe to you, you would need to see it in action. I mean, the res system and particle system aren't exactly things you can just automatically know by being told or giving it a name.
    Lerk spikes? Not a system.
    Removing/Adding tech/unit? Not a system.
    Multiple upgrades, could be classed as a system. But thats already been ruled out.
    vehicle, I guess a vehicle system could be it.. but since it wouldn't fit the game. No.

    I think Nem was on the right track by pointing out Cageys main job on the site, So, lets look for somethings in common between the three people working on the system.
    First, we have Cagey. He maintains the site and such. As Nem pointed out, he knows quite a bit about PHP and HTML. He also knows a fair bit about mapping, although that may not be an important point
    Next, we have Joev. Joev runs Jarhedz and hosts NS.org. Also, from what I have heard he knows a fair bit about linux. But again, that may not be important.
    The main thing I would like to point out is that
    I think that what ever this system is, it probably has to do with connectivity and NS.org.

    Now, we get on to Flayra. Numerous times he has expressed ideas about wanting NS to be a large ongoing war, where every battle effects another one, and so on. That would require a fair bit of connectivity.. an online database and someone to maintain it..
    Although, it is obviously not such, just because that would be really hard to balance.. Not to mention it would take a lot longer, and probably won't even be in NS2..

    or, on the other hand, it could be something completely different and I'm a complete idiot.
    I dunno.. I just really think what ever the system is.. its probably going to have to do with some form of online database..

    Then explain the number of how do you bhop topics, it's still hard for newbies to learn and it is still an undocumented feature not in the manual.

    A map based multiplayer campain? You can only go on to another map based on the current map win/loss?

    ie: 5 maps, you start in map #3, alien win you go towards map #1, marine win goes towards map #5. I dunno... speculate... speculate...

    seems like the most logical connection to me... and since i know about 4-5 "systems" that are being changed, i'm not sure which one the news says... so that's one that works with what nem said...

    i don't think that's what will be implemented... it seems kinda trivial to me, especially when there's a lot of stat/admin mod plugins already, and HLTV on the way. Besides, he mentioned "playing," and the phpua thing is a server side mod...

    personally, I'm aiming for either:
    - volumetric grenades, spores, umbra, and FLAMETHROWER!
    - completely new resource system (unlikely, as this would involve another round of private betas to get right... and I DON'T want to see a 4.0 come out in the middle of a balance crisis)
    - super h4x system that lets ns run decently smooth on a 1.5 mhz AMD, with a fx5200! (i wish)

    and that's about it. i'm dying to find out what it is though. If it turns out to be as disappointing as the hand grenade or the grenade launcher then... UGH, just... ugh...

    Heck... I might even start playing NS again.

    I think it is detailtextures... because it is cool, but not a whole new system tough.
    Or maybe they have found a way to get all the cool animations to work, doubt it to tough.

    Hrm... XP-Cagey is working on it, so it's probably based on maps if it isn't on connectivity (did I already mention battle.net?)... And maps... They're so...
    Hrm... Systematic... Maybe it's a new way for Aliens to take out structures? Or maybe there's only one hive initially, and the other hives are built dynamically, in whatever place the Gorge chooses, by gradually infesting the walls with goopy stuff.

    The devs did at some point hint that they were working on a new spawn system, and that would definately count as a "system" and would definately change Combat drastically.

    Perhaps it is screen rotation, like for skulks and lerks. When you run up a wall, it stays below you, and everything shifts.

    And it would be nice for lerks if they could somehow remove the thing that only lets you look straight up. Being able to pull of loops would be fun, especially in the more open maps. Eh... I always wanted that.
