Google Mail

Sounds suspicious, but you never know Google has always provided great services for free. But you have to admit 1GB per person seems a bit much <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

As we're in a testing period, we don't have more details for when Gmail will be made widely available, but we thank you for your interest in Gmail. In the meantime, if you'd like to be updated about Gmail, feel free to submit your email address below. We will only use your email to send you more information about Gmail. It will not be shared with any third parties. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I bet if you enter your e-mail, they'll send you a happy April 1st from Google card. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

In comparison btw, hotmail gives 1 Meg (if I'm not mistaken) the average ISP gives either 20 or 50 megs per box (with usually up to at least 4 boxes, 1 per family member in an average family) and the largest FREE webmail I know gives 50 megs per box <a href='http://www.netcourrier.com' target='_blank'>(netcourrier, a french mail service)</a>
(edit: all above is referring to "free" excluding ISP costs)
I haven't read up, but I bet the 1GB of storage is simply for e-mail only, NOT something you can just upload files to (and share with others).
During this testing period, the Gmail interface is only available in English. However, we're committed to making Gmail available to as many people in as many languages as possible. And Gmail accounts can already be used to read and send email in most languages (even Klingon).<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Klingon....aha.
<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(if it's free I'll get it, maybe I can forward all my yahoo spam over to it).
You can already browse google in <a href='http://www.google.com/intl/xx-klingon/' target='_blank'>klingon</a> and <a href='http://www.google.com/intl/xx-hacker/' target='_blank'>other</a> fun languages.

But when millions of people start signing up, they will just s**t theirselves.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Or they'll make even more money from ads.
No <3 for microsoft. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Besides, Google doesnt have a monopoly over the internet ;p
yes, but the difference is that MSoft pakaged the 'free' browser with their OS.
GMail is something you have to go and get.
They are not taking customers from anyone. No one pays for Email (and if they do, they should be hit with a wet trout). All ISPs provide free email. And if you don't like that email, then you go get free email ANYWHERE else.
And as for if this is real?
I would love it to be <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (though I doubt it)
However, I would still probably stick with my email addy simply b/c it is secure (ssh owns me)
