but don't know where it's going...
I could really care less when 3.0b4 comes out because I'm having quite a bit of fun with 3.0b3 as it is. However, I am somewhat curious as to some of the "big issues" that are being looked into. There is always the blanket answer of fixing bugs... but some are more important (in general) than others and a few other bugs are often propogated to the next iteration after the current effort. I think this is the kind of stuff that a lot of people are looking for rather than just "when is it coming."
Again I stress that I'd like to hear just a quick synopsis of some of the "big issues" that are being focused on.
An example of a big issue (in my opinion) would be the "shotgun sparks" problem that seems to have plagued the scene with the latest batch of changes (I know this is not a problem specific to NS and can happen to other games easily, but still a big one that needs to be addressed regardless). This just happens to be the really big one that I personally am hoping to be addressed. Other people have their other concerns dealing with unit/ability/upgrade/structure balances. I'm sure there are other issues that other people consider "big issues". Perhaps a more refined question would be to ask which issues are considered "big issues" to the dev team and which ones (if not all) are being looked into. This is much akin to a development roadmap (ie. planned major features/fixes for future iterations).
Quick Quip: If the NS devs are the "gods" of the NS community, and the NS community their "worshipers", would it not behoove the gods to communicate to their worshipers even if only in general cryptic and/or prophetic riddles to ensure to their fickle followers that they exist...

because NS3 Is the first NS to be compatible with steam. And the dev team has plans to officially get NS up on the "My games" list. (IE:Auto-updates)
Or speak through their clergy... the Archbishops (admins) and Clerics (mods).
What... isn't 'soon' cryptic enough?
LOL! nice one. Long live the Flayraton Clerics!

No, because that was a BAD film.
do a search on "shotgun sparks" and you'll get a thread that details the issue very nicely.
Anyone else noticed how most of NS' big game bugs are Steam-related now?

Actually, I'm quite sure it is more just Halflifes problem than anything else. I couldn't possibly see how it would be caused by Steam.
From what I can tell, the main cause of it is where the shotgun shot "spawns"
Inorder for the shot not to get stuck on the marine and not work at all, it spawns a little ways away from the marine. This causes a problem when small things get really really close (Skulks) because the shot ends up spawning in them, and thus goes right through them.
To be honest, I think it is a combination of all aforementioned factors (except maybe the occlusion one as I don't even know if that's possible). Also, all of those issues can be address (yes even the lag compensation issue... though it would require a kluge).

Because Steam came with a new version of HL(1120?), which also contained some changes to the netcode.
I get 2 topics: This one and 'clean screenshots', neither are of any help...
