Xp-Cagey (although i think i read somewhere that Fam has helped him a bit)

And to stop this post from being a one liner I just want to congratulate the makers for doing such a great job ! It's informative, comprehensive and shows all aspects of the game in a very detailed manner. Good work !

Nice one. But I bet no new players will read that... its just too much <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah.. it is quite nice.. maybe not as atmospheric as the old one, but nice. Covers pretty much everything that needs to be said about the game.. and a bit more.

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Extra cumulative experience is awarded when friendly players are nearby. For each friend that's nearby when a kill is made, the experience awarded is increased by 10. The total experience is then split among all the players. For example, if a marine kills a level 3 alien, and there are four friendly marines nearby at the time, the experience given is
(80 [Level 3 kill] + 40 [4 x crowd award]) / 5 [number of players] = 24 for each marine regardless of who killed the alien.

Another way to look at it: a group of five players making five level 1 kills (one per person), would have 100 experience apiece, whereas one player making one level 1 kill would have 60 experience.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

WOW. I had no idea teamwork had such an effect on XP. I'm going to totally mooch^H I mean team up to gain XP. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Now all we need is the Devs to get NS to have a HTML Motd (like DoD has) and admins can link to the manual directly! If I was a server-admin, I'd definitivly do that and I guess some admins were talking about that in the Server Support forum, too.

In the weapon/armor description, it does not say that HA protects from spores - in case anyone affiliated with the writing of the manual reads this. (It does say where it talks about spores, though).

    Edit: Also -
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->FOCUS :: Each level slows rate of fire by 33%, but damage is increased by 0.50. Only affects the slot 1 weapon (bite, spit, spore, swipe, gore).<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This should be (bite, spit, bite, swipe, gore)

Lol, it says spore is the lerks slot 1 weapon and thus is affected by Focus!

<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>I could have sworn Focus was a double-double trade off. 33% extra damage and 33% extra cool down time per level, up to 100% extra damage (two times normal) and 100% slowdown (twice as long).

    WFT??

Also: Cool, a new manual, I'm gonna go read it in it's entirety.</span>

XP-Cagey is the one working on the new manual. He is also the one you send comments to if you see something wrong, so he can fix it. There is a link to his e-mail adress at the top of the manual.

well to get newcomers to READ THE WHOLE THING, we could:

    1) slap this on the front

    <img src='http://www.myownbook.com.au/images/books/wallie_sm.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    > then the manual

    2) then wally himself

They could also make it an interesting read like the first one was instead of just a list of facts.

Theres a variety of numerical errors in there though. For example, each level of Focus provides +33% damage and -20% rate of fire. The rates of fire listed for most weapons are off by quite a bit. It lists LMGs as firing 10 bullets per second when I time it at 16. I could maybe be off by 1 or 2, but not by 6. Likewise, I time skulkbite as firing 2.4 times per second, compared to the listed 1.25. HMGs also fire at about 16 bullets per second, not 9. I haven't timed any of the other attacks, but I would be very suprised if this manual got any of them right.

Wally = european version of Waldo, since Waldo is possibly the worst name ever devised.
