Its like forced retardation, they wash out your brain and bring your IQ down to about 2, you can still talk but barely, and you forget your own name, you dont even recognize your own mother. I think its more inhumain than death.

    What they do in a labotomy is they slice off a certain amount of the front of your brain, which contains the part of you that makes you aggressive.  It, however, turns you into a sort of 'I don't care' zombie.  It's inhumane and was used back in the early 1900's as a crude way of making mental patients sheep.  If you want to get some decent descriptions of it, read "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

    This reminds me of a short story:

    There was that madman who had killed a lots of people and the police finaly cought him. The judge (or whoever controls these things) was going to get him exicuted but he couldnt because the laws said that it was not alowed to exicute mentally ill person. So the judge started to debate: "I could send him into a therapy and <b>then</b> exicute him when he is no longer mentally ill".

    I dont know if he was sent to jail or into a therapy. What a sick world we live in. (Im not 100% sure if this story is true but Im pretty sure)

    The bottom line is that the same laws which are used to protect US from being wrongfully accused or punished too severely are also used to protect those who deserve a PAINFUL fate. This is the double edged sword of Democracy, but it ultimately is better than the alternative.
    I think the best course of action for the sniper is to stick him in a nice, to quote office space "Federal Pound me in the ### prison."

    I liked how I heard people suddenly wishing death on the guy before the FBI even linked him to the killings. That proved to me that people are idiots. I don't know if they've linked him yet, but just him being suspected of the crimes was enough for a bunch of people to shout "Torture him to death!" or "kill him, we don't need evidence or a trial!"

    They found the gun in his car, a stand for it in the back seat, bullet holes  through the rearwindow indicating shots fired from the inside out.  This was all known yesterday or day before.

    to say "alive" is an overstatement.

    First off, Jed, I think no-one was actually talking about the current suspect, they were talking about the sniper in general, what they should do when they find out for sure who it is.

    I think the one and only thing about jails that need to be changed is being tortured by the other inmates. Being there is enough punishment, they shouldn't have to be raped and beaten up every day.

    The sniper, I believe, is NOT mentally ill. I believe he just hates americans, remember he converted to islam.

    Converting to Islam by it self is not a reason, there are many American Muslims. It might of been that he had some instable and\or aggresive tendinces that finaly broke lose. Islam and the (wrong) stuff the Osama and his bunch attach to it *might* of been the trigger, but then again he might of known he had a problem and hoped that a religon would allow him to help himself.
