I did everything taht the tutorials told me to do.
BUt, i cant save the map into bsp form?
am i supposed to?
and if not, then why is it that i cant run map in game otherwise.
It says to save it to the map folder, which i did, but its all .dfx and .map?

un like engines like unreal and serious sam, you will need to compile the map before you can play it , half life is a pain like that.

there is a good tutorial on setting up compilers and options here.

that should get you going in the right direction. After setting all that stuff up you can compile in hammer by hitting f9.

when compiling is comlete it will generate a .bsp file.

hope that helps you.

if that doesn't help feel free and let me know

not to be a ****, but in teh future please use the mapping hep and tourble shooting forum vcleverly hidden at the top of this forum.

do you have logs of the errors?

compile errors and h/l engine start-up errors?

Here are a few of the problems that popped up under this situation:

You may have errors in your compile, if not then,
Your pak0pak.pak file may be corrupted?
    Maybe the wrong game version?
Wrong WC/Hammer version? Earlier versions of WC were particularly prone to this. Use WC 3.3 or Hammer!
Maybe another compile will make it go away, or not? And make sure you have the most up-to-date version of zoner's compiling tools....
You may have a bad model - like one from another mod or game, or you once installed a custom one? Or you may have a corrupted sprite or model?
Have you installed a patch recently? It might be bad....<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Post the compile log, please.

Guys, remember that this is my first map, so if something wrong that is nubbish, dont be so bitchy

    Here it is:

    brush union threshold [ 0.000 ] [ 0.000 ]

    Using mapfile wad configuration
    Wadinclude list :
    [zhlt.wad]

5 brushes (totalling 30 sides) discarded from clipping hulls
    CreateBrush:
    (0.01 seconds)
    SetModelCenters:
    (0.00 seconds)
    CSGBrush:
    (0.05 seconds)

    Using Wadfile: \program files\steam\steamapps\gosuckonagoat@hotmail.com\half-life\nsp\ns2.wad
    - Contains 4 used textures, 30.77 percent of map (296 textures in wad)
    Using Wadfile: \program files\steam\steamapps\gosuckonagoat@hotmail.com\half-life\nsp\ns.wad
    - Contains 9 used textures, 69.23 percent of map (578 textures in wad)

    added 6 additional animating textures.
Texture usage is at 0.56 mb (of 4.00 mb MAX)
    0.09 seconds elapsed

Your compiler appears to be confused by the period in the email address. Try moving your map to a directory like C:\NS and compile from there.
