PhysX acceleration in NS2 ?

Now, I know Natural Selection 2 is not using any special PhysX effects like dynamic fog, fluid simulations or "special" fracture/shattering of objects, does it mean that if I enable PhysX aceleration on my GTX 980, that it might help with smoother end game scenarios and be less taxing on my CPU since all physics are then offloaded tot he GPU instead of CPU? I don't know whether should I attribute smoothness to more graphic grunt or also to the fact that PhysX acceleration option does help mak the game faster?

From what I heard the option literally does nothing. Now I don't know if that's due to the option not being hooked up to any advanced physx setting or whether advanced physx themselves have been disabled while the option is still there. Hopefully someone else can confirm or deny it.

Also, you have a GTX 980, I am jelly(no, not jelly, envious? yeah that's the one).
