AV - Structures vs Living things

Hi,

I which for an Alien Vision that has 2 different colors :

-1 for structures (Electric Blue or Cobalt)
-1 for marines but not Exo as it is a metal structure after all (Orange or red)

The logic behind is:
-Walls are cold
-Structures are a little warm as they are active
-Marines are hot (especially female) as they run all over the map.

In a base full of structure is it sometimes hard to make the difference between marines and structures. That would be a improvement IMO to be able to clearly see the difference.

If possible let alien structure stay warm as these are living things after all. That would add a little level of difficulty for alien as a counter.
That would make a balance like this:
-Alien see better in Marine base.
-Marine can hide better in hives.

The change (on the balance perimeter) would be of a little magnitude as :
-Marine aren't Ninja-ing in hives all the time.
-Skulks aren't rushing base all the time either. And everybody still can distinguish 2 different shapes like Crag-vs-Marine

The way the game works now I don't think this is possible. See what the shader is given to distinguish between environment and buildings/players/etc is one value. Environment is 0, everything else is 1. Until that changes, there's no way for the shader to distinguish between these different types.

    0, 1, ok... It's a variable
    value = 2; can't be a big headache.

It's actually really easy to do but it would require that you modify materials of pretty much every material file for Alien and Marine model to have a certain highlight amount for what you want the highlight to be and then modifying AV to highlight depending on what the depth would be. highlight is a material parameter between 0 and 1. Just be careful because setting highlight to anything below 0.5 will cause decals to be projected onto it.
