may be, but I'm unsure if those two are really related. Also: That's exactly *why* I'm posting in this forum.
@Confused I'd say use inxi instead of sysinfo.
inxi -G (details about the graphic part)
inxi -S (system info. Kernel version and so on)
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 Alpha (it's in feature freeze now). NS2 is running with 60FPS on open-source radeon drivers! Settings are on medium.
oh...in that case...I had most stuff on 'Medium' during the optimization (switched to Low after that since the FPS was way too low...something like 5 or 6 FPS).
Anyway, to answer my own question: It works (technically). It's not playable, but it works. So...awesome job guys!

Just came home and updated to the beta. I'm able to run the game with Mesa/Gallium driver on a Radeon HD5870 but the best I got were ~19 FPS in main menu (that was with everything set to minimal and a resolution of 1400*900 or something like that)that looks more like your GPU is not supported by ...something, judging from (Quote)that Beta release would be nice.> support for Mesa
that'd be awesome!

Please?I'd play but the developers behind this game don't seem to really like bugfixing. The game is currently unplayable on Linux since it's not compiling shaders. That's an issue that was reported months ago, they said they'd look into it but as of now, …ah, thanks.(Quote)
in that case I've to admit that I was apparently wrong on assuming it's a NS2 problem. Sorry.
@Confused yeah, we don't have much of a choice …(Quote)
and it's AMD's fault because...? (hint: usually it's some developer not following the standard/not doing stuff the way it should be done.)
I'm usually all for blaming AMD for stuff, but that's usually limited to bugs th…(Quote) really? You feel sorry about not doing NS2 related stuff when you've such things to do in reallife?! I sincerely hope you'll figure that stuff out on time!there is a new AMD driver..could someone please test and report if NS2 runs? -> http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTUyMzI
