It kind of has that Minecraft feel to it. Be creative, be careful you don't get eaten, and explore a huge variety of biomes. Both games are really enjoyable to me.

An old Army buddy of mine sent me a message on Facebook one day: "Hey man, have you seen this new Subnautica game? Its supposed to be a scifi survival game where you crash on an alien water world. No zombies in it, so I won't play it, but you dive s…

I've been using different packs of identical fish, released from captivity in dense groups, to see if they stay. Before, they'd disappear in a few game days, no matter what. Now I see that most of them remain. I'm still not sure if the Rabbit Rays a…

See, that whole argument boils down to
"I don't play that way, and I wouldn't play that way if I could...but if you put those options in there, OTHER players will want to play that way, and I do not want to allow that."… -

According to a recent comment by one of the Devs, fish that are killed by the environment or other fish *do* respawn, it just takes a while. The implication is that fish YOU kill (by harvesting them for… -
OK, according to a recent comment from the Devs, fish that are killed by the environment and other fish *do* respawn, it just takes a while. The implication is that the fish YOU kill (by harvesting them for food, eliminating them as a threat, or acc…

I'm guessing he has a MP Room and a bunch of corridors. The first room you build has 10 HP by default (in normal depth water), less the 1.25 for a MP or -1 for a corridor. Adding a Hatch subtracts from that, and each additional se… -

Still is, too.

There is a Lava Geyser southwest of the Aurora (map coordinates are roughly -75 -25 -445). The upper part of the Geyser is at about 25m depth, the bottom is at about 50m. Its in the little 'peninsula' of the Safe Shallows, right on the edge of a Gra…

When I did my 'Nomad Challenge' I used an idea very much like this to live for a game month without building a permanent base, living out of my Seamoth/personal inventory instead.

I've never had a leaking MP Room at less than 400m depth. Are you putting them in the diagonal corners for the extra HP? What else do you have in the room, an Alien Containment with a Gasopod in it? -
OK, I went back and checked and I couldn't put the Reinforcement in earlier because there WAS something already mounted to the wall. When I cleared the wall, I was able to put the Reinforcement panel in the center of the flat part of the T section. …

I had to copy the whole Saved Games folder over, but it did indeed solve the problem. You are a genius, and my new personal hero. Thanks!

OK, restarted Steam. Restarted my computer. Called my father in law in India and demanded he do something about it, since everyone knows all Tech Support is in India. Apologized to my wife for calling her Dad, took her out to eat because my apology …

Hmm it didn't work for me when I tried it, but perhaps I already had something mounted on the wall, preventing it from placing the Reinforcement. I know I can fit Bulkheads between corridor sections, but I'll have to try the Reinfo… -
OK thanks. Maybe in an update soon. I want it to finish off my Cyclops, the double wide one is too awkward.

It seems like there has been a change in the respawn rate for game fish recently. For months (real time) I have been regularly releasing sets of game fish (Reginalds, Peepers, Airsacks, and Hoverfish) … -
I agree. I have seen them stuck in cracks in the kelp forest sometimes, too. Like they tried to swim through it, then tried to turn before their body was clear, and got stuck.

I definitely think the lethal options should only come later in the tech tree, after the non-lethal options are made available, and definitely with some kind of opportunity cost involved.
By opportunity cost, I mean you have to do more/h… -
Like Qelsar, other than a couple of trips to try it out, my Cyclops is parked outside the base gathering silt. I've used it as a mobile base for one expedition in deep water, where the Seamoth provided the speedy exploration and the Cyclops gave me …

(Quote) Again, you must have missed the wording while you were losing your cool. I said Orwell would approve of the comment "having a choice is stupid". At no point did the word 'you' enter my comment, either directly or implied. My statement sta…

You have a very strange opinion of how I enjoy Subnautica. Its also wildly inaccurate, but I find it more strange than insulting that you seem to view me that way. All because I advocate for more options in game play. /shrug

I twisted nothing around, I quoted you.
You made directly conflicting statements one after the other, and I called you on it. You do it again, in your most recent reply, too.

So...adding choices means that the players will automatically choose those choices over their own preferred style of play? Someone who prefers to play non-lethal now, will suddenly become a violent player if he has the op… -
I was poking around this morning while the coffee brewed, and decided to look up the meaning of the lyrics to Holy Diver, since the line they quoted in Subnautica seems like it could mean something relative to our game. This is what I found:
Agreed, on both counts, even though I'm not playing the game as an Environmentalist (not disparaging those who do, its just not a big concern to me as a shipwreck survivor).
In practical terms, why would I want to waste time/energy tryin…Those are good ideas, I think. Making the Dispenser into something like an AutoDoc, and then having it drain energy to heal you rapidly inside the base. That might be real useful if they introduce poisons, or diseases later in the game. They are intended for zero atmosphere work, and only if they ever actually get a working prototype. They are the opposite of what we need for deep dives. They try to compress the…
