Having dedicated "staff" to work out certain pieces can really speed development. When you have a rapport with people, know their capabilities and feedback is 100% on it can greatly accelerate the process. Instead of getting just general "this suc…

The best path for Subnautica is the following - do exactly what they're doing, but plan an expansion area and second story as DLC or full price expansion later on. Subnautica deserves to evolve (we won't ever want to let it go!) and the developers …

I sent you my application. Filled out all the little extras too
Kind of wondered if this comment was directed right at my whiny … -
If we don't have crashing but just abysmal performance do you want that?

There are specific variant so Unity that do all full multi-threading via 64-bit codebase. When we were at KSP is was a huge deal when we finally got to move off the 32-bot compile to the 64-but just for unlimited memory for our mo… -

So glad to see you here. I think many of us are very concerned that we have higher end machines and have been getting terrible performance since Dangerous Creatures. Since I've been the frame rate flag-bearer (only in a good info… -
I have a terminal illness and needed something that was like No Man's Sky (but had actual depth) to take me from additional pain and trauma I'd gone through this summer. My friends recommended this game and they were spot on.

I've been critical of the game of late due to performance, but that being said I have to say this thread is way out of line and ridiculous. Subnautica is beautiful, is masterfully crafted by hand, has amazing gameplay and depth. No Man's Sky's ent…

What we need is for the developers to fix this. Not workarounds. I haven't seen a single comment from them saying they're taking the performance issues seriously and actually working on them. Crashes? yes. performance? no.
-
I almost feel like giving up on this game with performance as bad as it is. I was so excited that those tricks could fix things, but it ruins the entire story/resource scarcity part of the game.

That looks really cool Morph guy. Is that in experimental?
-
Can you tell us what else is in the experimental right now that is different/new from the last major beta release?

Well that sucks

Yea having that stuff do stuff would be super cool. There could even be something simple like achievements. Imagine this:
1. You bring in an item, say a fish and place it in scanner or under microscope.
2. You are rewarded with… -
When you delete all that cache what information is being removed? Is it removing the catalog of default items? I'm concerned that deleting all the data will respawn new nodes to harvest and even parts such as solar panels and blueprints. Or does …

I could be wrong, but that's a different circumstance. When you're going for SPORES/SEEDS, you get 4 from 1, but for everything else where you see the item, you're supposed to get just what you see you hack... 1 for 1. -
What you delete all that cache is it almost a cheat? As in, does it repopulate all the metal nodes and stuff and other things like items, recipes etc?
-
Wow that is weird. Use in game report tool as I have no idea how much developers use this forum as a resource.

There's no question a fresh game runs better. What we're having a problem with is when that new, fresh game, gets developed with a medium to large base, you have a seamoth and plenty of power generation and lockers, then performa… -

Obraxis I love you guys, you know that. This game has provided me a lot of relief. But performance has been getting abysmally worse with each update, and that is no exaggeration. For example read through this if you haven't: in This games unplayable Comment by jpinard November 2016

That wasn't the area I meant to say as that's always been fine. It's the really deep area (over 300m) where the octopus brain things are and those blood tears or blood drops (not sure the name as I'm not in game) are harvested and… -
Since terraforming hurts performance right now, Is there some way to make a base without platforms then? Or maybe just 1 platform?
Another thing I was thinking about. My current base is possibly on the edge of two biomes. It's near en… -

It's important we get the developers to focus on optimizing a big chunk of the game now instead of just before release. The game will get less than optimal word-of-mouth and fewer people will be playing deeply to find bugs because… -

I have two NVidia 970's in SLI, a monster CPU, fast SSD, and 16 Gig of RAM. I think you'd be disappointed at this point to put a thousand dollars into your rig and see you're still in the same place you started. They have got to … -

See if I maintained 20 fps I could live with that. It wouldn't be fun, but it would at least be tolerable. But as you mentioned it is the dips to 6 fps that kill the game. The deep area with brain octopus things where you get bl… -

Just a note - PS4 controller support is still yet to drop for Steam. It's coming, we just don't know when.
