  • This map is very well made!

At first glance I thought it was too big, but the size (and dimensions of the rooms) is perfect, and the rooms are simultaneously simple but provide great fights.

  • This plays so much better than the first version. And your graphics test is spectacular! Just keep it simple otherwise so it is visually clear.

  • This map is starting to look really good!
  • (Quote) Such a great post! Every single word is so true.

Except one thing: I don't think the problem is that UWE takes their info from the forums (after all, they have their game stats thingie and everything).
    I believe th…
  • Tutorials are the wrong way. That's just doesn't work in reality. The game itself must accommodate new players so they do not get frustrated and can improve in a fun way.

With half of games these days being a one sided stomp, do you thin…
  • It is the same sound that is used on Descent, in Fabrication, for the circular machinery/cool looking thing that comprises the south wall of the room (upper level, behind the RT). You can only hear it close to it.

  • @YMICrazy502
Thanks! Will see if I can get it onto the workshop, no idea how to do that atm.

  • The "problem" is just that some nice rooms were taken away from players (totally remade), instead of trying to fix them. People don't like stuff they like removed, if they see no good reason for it ("Why couldn't it just be fixed?"). Even if they ge…

  • Few invincible hydras, no idea how to reproduce.

Nowhere near a Crag of Hive (and no Crag could save a hydra against 3 ARs).

    Good luck PTs
  • @dux
I'm trying to explain what I believe is behind many of the complaints (except really stupid ones like many in this thread), why people compare the new Docking to De…

  • How about Babblers can throw grenades back? Or eat them so they explode without damage? (one per babbler)
  • (Quote) No.
    No no no no no.
Old Docking was horribly Marine biased since release. Marines go to Stability and win, the end. With the new Locker and Departures spawns, it got even worse.
However the new version plays, the old on…

  • I'm not sure if 8 year olds should be playing NS2. Might give them nightmares or similar stuff with all the "monsters" and tense gameplay and whatnot. It's not a "smart enough" thing, more if they can deal with the kind of content at their age. Ther…

  • BUG: Docking's (mini)map is white-ish

Not sure what to think of the new Docking... it had unique rooms, now they are becoming more generic. Let's see how it plays in Build 249 [Beta] Comment by hozz June 2013
  • Any balance/map/other non-tech changes in the beta?
  • "rematch with new teams" is contradictory. It's just a new game, why would it be called rematch? :p

  • (Quote) Don't worry, it only shows in the first few seconds after joining a server (low res textures for 5 seconds until high res textures are loaded). A dev told me it's due to vram limitation. And this only happens to me.

  • People just need to stop elaborately hiding them in corners and behind Hives, put them in easy to find places close to where you spawn, so others can quickly use them.
    Just like Phase Gates.
Nobody hides Phase Gates like this.
  • Nice setup. As people mostly already said:

    - not having an SSD is a crime against yourself
    - get a nice cooler for the CPU. Will be much more silent, and unlocks great overclock potential.
    - how much VRAM does the GPU have? I…
  • Nice, this is impressively fast. They had to find the bugs before fixing, after all.
  • Just remove all the script code except the things you need (maybe map loading, camera controls, things like this).

But this mod would probably be pointless. If you have more fps then , you know what we already know: mostly the LUA side o…
  • (Quote) I agree mosty with what you said.

But know this: Source is ridiculously complicated and outdated - especially compared to something like UE3 or CE3 which still apparently do not have all the capabilities that Sparks offers for…
  • This is a pretty big patch!

    KICKVOTES!!!
    Pistol exploit fixed!
    Veil Pipe start much better!
    Descent better!
  • The mod jam was not a technical challenge. What you propose is a huge technical challenge, that can't be done easily in a week.

Isn't JIT compilation of the LUA code being tested? That's the next step before porting the game logic to c++…
  • There are a lot of GREAT improvements in the mod.
There's also a lot of problems, especially accessibility and "hidden variables".

But it isn't finished yet. That's the point.

    Try it.

  • (Quote) I tried it (Skulk movement) and bhop makes no sense to me.

The new Fade movement (with upgrades switched and the new shadowstep), in contrast, is brilliant. Even if I didn't actually know about changed details, it immediately …
  • My problem with the bunnyhopping is that it doesn't fit NS2.

Marines don't really need bhop as their main skill sink is shooting.
Aliens don't really need bhop (Onos, lol), except Skulks (so they have something at all).
